Like the women, the Shocks took 2nd to host Nebraska Saturday. Sure would like to get them down here to the Heskett Center for a meet.
Nebraska 195, Wichita State 123, Colorado State 96, Illinois State 95. Nebraska men are real strong this year. I thought Illinois State would be better than that but it's still early. They did pretty well on the track events.
--The men weight throwers dominated going 1-2-3. Weston Cottrell won this week with a season best 64-8. What a great group of throwers! Unfortunately the MVC is one of the best conferences for throws in the country and SIU will battle these three at the conference meet.
--The distance guys had a good meet. The milers ran 4:11, 4:12 and 4:14. Two of them are freshmen (Penrod, Law) and the other is a long distance runner (Brady Johnson). Looking sharp early for those guys!
--Freshman jumper Jared Belardo finally had an average meet. Still jumped 48-11 to take 2nd in the triple jump though. He is ranked in the top-20 nationally.
--Also noticing the pole vaulters having a good season. Two guys went over 16' and two more were just under. WSU has a great tradition in that event.
This week the multi's will head to UNI for a Heptathlon. The next meet of significance is in 2 weeks at Air Force.
