Yeah, but at +3 he is not all that far back. If I have to I will settle for a 4-way playoff of Shockers for medalist honors.

Coach Jones must have tore the team a new one after the 1st round when the Shocks were (apparently) an unacceptable even par as a team.

They are now -7 as a team, roughly approaching the midway mark.

Tyler Gann coming up to 13 and 14 where he went bogey-bogey this morning. Let's see how he plays those holes the 2nd time around.

I was just thinking that Grier might even be satisfied with the way the guys are playing today. Or at least almost satisified. He's probably telling them just think what you would be doing if you just worked harder at your game.

Tyler finishes with 3 of his final 6 holes being par 5s so he has a decent chance at finishing strong, relative to par.

With Boyer's little bogey run, Tyler's even par is being counted this afternoon.

Maybe, but Tyler parred all of the Par 5's this morning.

Calvin's bogey on 14 dropped the Shocks from -8 to -7. I think that was the 1st backward step we have taken this afternoon.

However, our lead over Illinois State expanded to 22 strokes.

I noticed Rafael started on #2 (according to his scorecard), but they have him parring number 1.

OTOH, Louis started on #3 (according to his scorecard), but they do not have a score for him on number 3.

Number 1 and number 3 are both par 4's. My guess is they put Louis' score from #3 on Rafael's #1 hole that he has not played yet.

Been quite a few screwy things with the golfstat scorecards today.

Rafael with the Shocks first double-bogey of the day on the Par 3 13th. However, he did come back to birdie the 15th but that does drop the Shocks back to 5 under.

Calvin's birdie on 16 moves the Shocks back to -6.

Tyler Gann with a triple-bogey 7 on #17 pushes him to +3 on the round and puts Boyer's +2 back in the mix.

Shocks are -5 and still have a 20 shot lead but they need to avoid putting up any big numbers and allowing the field to close the gap to any significant degree.

I wonder is someone in the group that Boyer is playng in is struggling because they have only scored that group for 9 holes. Everyone else has at least 13 holes on the scoreboard.

Edit: Might have been Matt Solis. He posted a triple-bogey on the par-3 13th.

Shocks lead is now 24 over Illinois State and 25 over SIU who is playing well this afternoon.

Caleb Harms for SIU shot 85-69 today. That's a nice comeback for that young man this afternoon.

                                Update on the Day:

The Shocker Men shot a -7 for the day and now hold a 24 stroke lead over Ill St and 31 up on 3rd place SIU. The rest of the field is at least 40 strokes behind.

Four Shockers hold the top Individual spots, all under par (only players under par). Louis Cohen Boyer leads the way at -3, Becker -2, Pearson and Sparks at -1. Our 5th golfer, Tyler Gann, hasn't shot well enough for his scores to count in the team total. That said, he is tied for 10th overall among the 45 competitors. All the other schools would have loved to be able to use his scores.
