Todd McKown (on the right in the above photo) did in fact not only set a new PR with his 13.42 in Austin in qualifying for the NCAA National Championships to be held at Drake but he shattered the previous school record of 13.57 set by Shannon Armstrong in 2003.

Lawson Montgomery (on the left) also set a PR with his 13.63 time that also advance him to the NCAA Championship finals in Des Moines.

Not sure if the Shockers have ever had such a strong pair of 110m hurlders and it may very well be a long time before we see the likes of Todd and Lawson running side-by-side again.

2012 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship - Drake Stadium - Des Moine, Iowa

Drake doesn't really take a back seat to many when it comes to outdoor Track & Field facilities. This would be a fun trip to make some day.

Shocker men are scheduled to compete as follows (times are CDT and, of course, could change if weather dictates):

Brett Trudo - Javelin Finals - 2:30 pm Thursday, June 7.

      Lawson Montgomery & Todd McKown - 110m Hurdles Semi-Final - 6:50 pm Thursday, June 7.

      Tomas Cotter - 3,000m Steeplchase Semi-Final - 7:25 pm Thursday, June 7.

Will update for final rounds if Lawson, Todd and/or Tomas qualify.

      Good luck guys. Go Shocks!

The Shockers are sending their largest contingent to the NCAA championships since 2003 when Wichita State sent nine student-athletes. Six of the eight Shockers who will compete in Des Moines this week are from Kansas. (3 of our 4 men who qualified and the same for the women).

        Good Luck Shocks.

Also congrats to Coach 'bolt on his selection as USTFCCCA (now that's an acronym) Midwest Men's Coach of the Year.

Something to mention about the 03 team, 4 of those qualifiers were for one relay event. All of the Shockers going this year are for individual events. A really special thing Coach Bolt has done with T&F.

I know this is the men's thread, but I really hope Aliphine wins the national championship in the 10,000m.

Another very nice article by Paul Suellentrop on the Shocker contingent heading to Nationals.

            To quote Natalie Morerod:

I’m not that surprised considering the coaches that we have and the teammates I have. It’s no surprise we’re Wheatshockers, and they’re harvesting the crap out of us right now.

As do I. Hope all our athletes do well. I especially enjoy watching Todd and Lawson run the 100m hurdles.

Todd really scorched it in the regionals. If he can repeat that effort he will score.

See current scheduled events for Shocker men in post #17 above.

The meet will be streamed live Wednesday on NCAA.com and then ESPN3.com for Thursday/Friday. I believe Saturday will be both ESPN3.com and ESPNU.

                Good luck Shockers!!!

Shocker Sr. Brett Trudo finished 11th in the javelin with a solid throw of 233'10" to complete a very solid Shocker career.

Good effort Brett and best wishes in your future endeavors.

Illinois State Jr. Tim Glover won the javelin with a 268' throw, only 7" short of the NCAA Championship meet record.

                  Congratulations to Tim.

Todd and Lawson coming up shortly in the 110m hurdles. Watch live on ESPN3:

With Watch ESPN you can stream live sports and ESPN originals, watch the latest game replays and highlights, and access featured ESPN programming online.

Result: Lawson (13.79) finished 13th and Todd (13.84) finished 16th in their final races as Shockers as neither failed to advance to the finals.

Two more very fine Shocker careers come to an end. Best wishes going forward guys.

Tomas Cotter's 3k steeplechase semi-final race coming up in about 10 mintues.

Tomas ran a 8:49.85 to finish 17th and 5 seconds out of qualifying for the finals.

Hopefully, Tomas, a Junior, will get another shot at it next year.

With that the Shocker men officially close out their 2012 outdoor season.

Congrats to the 4 Shocks who qualified for the National Championship meet.

Coach Rainbolt announces his 2012-13 Men's track and field recruiting class. Always hard to project how much these kids will develop but Coach Rainbolt's "track" record in that regard is quite good.

The Wichita State men's track and field team announced the signing of 23 new student-athletes to National Letters of Intent for the 2012-13 season.

Welcome to Shocker Nation guys and best of luck in your Shocker track careers as well as in your studies.
