  • Toure, JT, Gabe, DK and Graham played 84 of the 100 available minutes in the 2nd half with Garrett (8) and JOe (6) getting most of the remainder.
I can't remember a game this year where 3G shortened his bench to such a great extent.

    • I am almost to the point that I would be comfortable with Rags, Kyles, and Toure' on nights that Ben and Hatch are both flat. However, that is the beauty of this team and why we are 17-4, 8-2, and 5-0 on road games. Rather than being 7-8 deep with 3 or 4 players in a flat mode on a given night, we go 10 strong.

Any of the 10 can have big nights or be reenforced by fellow players that are off, on a given half or game. This many times has been paying off, especially in the 2nd half, and in a huge way on the road.. Also, I still say this---THESE SHOCKERS HAVE NOT PEAKED YET!!! When they do. WATCH OUT!!!!!!!

      • I agree that we have not peaked yet, although it remains to be seen if and when that will happen.

It's great to be 5-0 on the road, but most of that has been built on playing the lower half of the league. Our toughest road games are still ahead of us with MSU, UNI and INS still ahead and a sneaky tough Evansville team that knocked of INS on the road tonight.

If we are going to peak it would be good if that hit about February 1st.

        • In 2006 (Sweet 16 Team), wasn't that about when we peaked then? The key to that Season was we won some very key close thrillers. A double overtime win versus SIU here, and our big home win at the end versus Creighton here. In that game, Matty B. could not throw the ball into the ocean. However, when it became prime time, Matty B. could not miss. Nobody gave us nothing that Season. We came out and took what we got and determined our own destiny, including the 2 huge wins at the Dance.

If they could get to the level of play they showed against Evansville they will be unstoppable. Peaking may be as simple as starting to put two halves together. They have never played less than one good half.

            • Got to admit I had written this game off the way the first half went, but I'm glad I stuck it out. What a second half comeback by WSU! I still saw some things I didn't like. I don't understand why this team is so inconsistent. They can play so great at times, and they can look like an NAIA team at times. We won, that's the important thing, and with the ISU Blue loss, we now have sole possession of second place in the valley. And.. shockerfever can no longer say I only post after losses. :)

The first half was horrendous, no team should shoot over 60% in a half. Terrible defense. Offensively I thought we were better. Except for a few dumb three point attempts, I liked the offense. Thank you to JT Durley and Gabe Blair who had massive games tonight. Some big shots by David Kyles, but good lord son, quit tryin the fancy dunk crap and just lay the ball up. Fortunately that mistake didn't cost us.

For the second straight game, I thought the officiating was less than impressive. way too many missed calls. The slam by Teague should have been an automatic, how they passed on that is beyond me. And what is up with the ref that decided all of a sudden to call three seconds. You never, ever call three seconds when a shot is in the air. That ref ought to be demoted to high school ball if he doesn't know the rules any better than that.

Overall a good night... no.. a great night to be a Shocker fan. Now we need to handle Bradley on Saturday night.

And all those road wins are double digits.

                • Like I said earlier, we need Murry and Kyles on the floor together, if that means Rags at the point and the other two at the 2 and 3 spots from time to time so be it. If you look at the prouty(?) ratings - Murry and Kyles are our two top players.

Coming towards the end of the first half there are a few choice things

                    • Great comeback win. I was really pissed after that abysmal first half but we plugged away and I can't complain about 5-0 on the Valley road.

                      Keep it up boys! :posterwu:

Oh, and thank you shockerfanmas. :good:

That triple OT wore Indiana State out.

Unfortunately their loss to UE has at least temporarily cost us our only top 100 win.

With the loss tonight Indy St dropped from 88 to 109 in the Warren Nolan rpi. Hopefully the Sycamores will do well enough rest of the way to finish in the top 100.

We need all of the top 100 wins we can get. :wsu_posters:

Makes you wonder what kind of year Gabe would be having if he did not have to deal with his back problem.
