  • This team is only NIT good

Tonight's performance should put to bed all the ballyhoo about how our "experience" is going to pay dividends this year. Yeah right. This group can't figure out how to stop 6-foot tall guards from driving the lane and giving us fits.

Oh, and our depth does nothing but to seal the deal on inferior teams. UCONN, SDSU, UNI and MSU all primarily ran 6-7 guys at us, so our depth is not wearing down the good teams.

On a positive note, we might finally get to play one of our in-state brethren in KSU. They are NIT bound and geographically speaking, we will have a great shot at playing against them, with or without Jake.

Perhaps your assessment is correct but there is still a lot of basketball to be played. It doesn't look good at this point but things can still fall in our favor. I certainly don't want to depend on circumstance.

Could they even win a game in the NIT? Even at home against, say, a New Mexico or a Penn State or an Oregon?

This team is not good during crunch time in a close ballgame. They are not championship caliber right now, I agree.

          That was pathetic last night.

WSU all time against Northern Iowa, 18 Wins, 24 Losses!

Keep in mid we are talking about Northern Iowa here, not North Carolina, but NORTHERN FRIGGING IOWA

They have a better coach, better players and get more for their investment in their basketball program, it is that simple.

The great Shocker sage, RDR, promised me that this is the year the we would drill Northern Iowa senseless. I guess he was wrong.

I say drop basketball and give it all to our Mid Major Baseball team.
Let's hope he can hit a D-1 Curve ball!

If the Shockers happen to get into the big dance, they have done nothing to prove that they can beat a high quality opponent. Perhaps this teams is better suited for a little run in the NIT. At least they would have a chance to be successful there. Who wants to watch a one and done in the big dance and be disappointed once again this season?

Thank God the posters on this site only show a tiny glimpse of the fanbase of our team, because you are all pathetic fans. You all need to stop being a bunch of chicken littles. We're a game back in the valley and have over half the valley conference schedule left. If we win the regular season, I'll be sure to come and laugh. If we don't win the valley, it'll be another day on shockernet with a ***** and moan fest.

That would probably be a wiser investment.

I guess that we have not been mathamatically eliminated yet.

Why was the zone taken away after proving effective?

                            Lmao.

I guess it is time for lunch again so we can sort this mess out. Next week is fine with me. ISASO and you pick the day and the rest of us probably will fit your schedule.

If the basketball program is discontinued, maybe we can put a dome over the baseball park.

I was surprised Pelfrey did not get a larger contract amount. Always remember what the lady, who burned herself with McDonald's coffee, said. In the trial court, the jury award was $2.86 million. The trial court judge reduced the award to $640,000. A reporter ask her how she felt about the reduction. She replied, "Six hundred forty thousand will do me."

Maybe, Pelfrey says, "$3.9 million will do me."

Well folks, as down as the Valley is this year, anything can happen. Also, on the 'bright side' our defense on the road has been a lot better, so that seems to indicate that we can play defense pretty well when we decide to.

The facts are on both sides... YOU MUST PROTECT YOUR HOME COURT.

On the other side, we have lost at the hands of some pretty quality opponents--besides UNI maybe. They are well coached though, but that's no excuse for us to lose at home to them.

The Valley race is far from over, but I just HATE not being in control of our own destiny. We're still in the driver's seat to control our own destiny because we still have games against the top 2 yet to play, but another loss at home on Saturday will virtually relegate us to 2nd or 3rd at best and with our fate in other team's hands. Times like these are when character is displayed. Will these guys fold or come out swinging?

It seemed like they just expected to win no matter what effort they put out last night which was very dissapointing. Defense has to be a full time job for them, not like temp work!
