  • Whats missing is one tough, smart 'go to" leader (Weems).... todays loss didn't cost us nearly as much as the home losses to UNI, S Ill and VCU. Win those and we expect to be in the NCAA Tourney and win the regular season Title. We should be in the title game on Sunday and Mo State shouldn't beat us a third time....so there is still an opportunity to have a succesful season......They have at times played well enough to win it all in ST Lou and bad enough to fall on their face before Sunday....My prediction is that they are still there on Sunday

    • Actually, I picked us to go 14-4 and win the Valley. The 1st part was spot on, but 3 losses was needed to be Champions. Our 3 losses at home was a huge no-no. The 8-9 road wins was solid. The loss at home to SIU was totally unacceptable and a dagger. The MVC Ship was ours to lose and we allowed a team we had beaten 5 games in a row to sweep us. The loss here at home to the Bears also came back to haunt us.

Heading into the Lew, I really do not think the Bears will win it. I really want to play them again in the finals. They celebrated way too much with Weems doing his Tarzan, chest pounding routine, and Creekmore doing his constant plea for the crowd to cheer louder as he misses his fair share of throws to reward them. It would not have shocked me if they would have received a technical foul with all of their antics. The Bears are still on the bubble and all of the over-hype game-time celebrating will not get them to the Dance. It was Leonard and Mallett that hurt the Shocks the most today and they did their talking with their solid performances on the court. Those 2 players earned my upmost respect.
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

      • Who is the shots-blocked leader for WSU? WSU's defense doesn't really discourage shots in the lane. That's the exact sort of thing that could get them one and done in Louie (vs Drake, let's say).. unless they can get out and run, to negate it. We'll see. I wish I was as confident as some others about the Shox' chances in Missouri.

        • Now that the sting of the loss is subsiding, we all need to get a grip and be proud of our team's good season and pleased that these fine young men play for our team. Then they need to go out this week and kick some ass in St. Louis.

Championship game and you need urging, eh? Say hello to your team's personality. Hello NIT, again. I am so proud.

I remember that quote as well. If it's the same guys doing the same stuff, why do you keep having them play the majority of the minutes? Why don't you DO something about it?

              NIT mentality indeed.

the reason you have the same guys doing the same stuff might be because he doesn't have other options, or the other options are worse.

Along those lines, the brings up the subject of our "depth." We have hailed the "depth" as a great thing, but don't you think HCGM would have loved for Kyles or Murry, or someone, to grab hold of their position and make it impossible for HCGM to play them less than 30+ minutes a game?

I think going 10 deep might be analogous to the old football saying about having 2 quarterbacks: "If you have 2 quarterbacks, you actually have none." If we are going 10 deep, is it because 2 or 3 haven't grabbed their positions by the horns?

Good depth does not necessarily mean 10 players getting 20 minutes each. Good depth means no drop off when 6-10 come on the floor. Good depth means minor injuries are non-events. I do wish some of these players would have performed such as to warrant 30 minutes every night. I'm absolutely sure that Gregg wished the same. That's one of the frustrations, you couldn't count on anyone game after game. JT was the closest to doing that and that was not enough for this team to reach their goals. Or at least their goal to date.
Where oh where is our T. Boone Pickens.
