Here's the deal. The Rebirds are blue in the Valley thus far and will be a dangerous foe. No way Coach Marshall allows our squad to look past this game to Sunday's game with the Bears. This is a winnable game but will have to be earned and will not come easy.

We have the team this year that has to sweep the bottom feeders of the conference to live up to our billing. IlSt is terrible offensively. Shox win by 14, 74-60.

The early season schedule maker didn't do the Dead-Birds any favors (Creighton, MSU, Indiana St.), but what scares you about them? Is it their marque win against Tennessee St., or memorable victory over Louisiana-Monroe, or shielding off Montana St? Maybe it was their close 31 point loss at home to UNLV. If this is the special season most think it is, the belief in beating this year's Illinois State team on the road should be strong...just sayin!!!

Illinois State was a good squad a few years ago and up until last year. Now, it's down to Carmichael and everyone else. We should be able to contain one player.. ala Andrew Warren last weekend.

Illinois State is a play-in team. If we all think we're as good as we think we are, we cannot lose to play-in teams. At home OR on the road.

Yes, it'll still be tough because it's a road game but we need to focus in to set ourselves up for a big one Sunday.

Hey, Hey, Hey my Shocker pals!

Been quite awhile. Hope things are well with you all. Well, the time has come for our squads to once again do battle. Unfortunately, this one may be a case of the bully whipping the nerd at recess.

We're struggling BAD right now. We have good young talent but can't seem to put forth a 40 min effort whatsoever. We started locking down on D right before Valley play began but we seemed to have abandoned that lately. I really don't know what to expect from this game except you guys are catching us at a bad time (bad for us that is.) I hope we can put forth a good effort and give you guys a tough game, as our unheralded rivalry has been known for, but I'm just not sure on that for this game. I hate sounding pessimistic about my team but the reality is that we are young and struggling to find an identity.

Crowd-wise, I wouldn't expect much, probably 5-6K at most. Our attendance has been down all year, it's a rare Friday game, plus it's Xmas break so students & band will be gone. There is a promo for ISU alums this game that may bring some extra folks in but probably nothing too significant. As always, if any of you are making the trip to Normal, be safe and if we can help with any suggestions on restaurants/bars/lodging, etc. feel free to ask. Here's to another hardfought, clean game between our squads. I just hope we can keep it competitive 8)
