Shocks RPI now at 42. Missouri State is now at 43.

I hope the Shocks and MSU both separate from the rest league and meet in the MVC Tournament Championship game which would give the MVC its best shot at multiple spots in the MVC. MSU is off to a great start in making the happen. The Shocks show perhaps the highest ceiling of any MVC team, but the Shocks, while winning impressively, have accomplished quite a bit less in our 3 games then MSU has. Still a lot of work ahead of the Shocks.

On the plus side for the Shockers is that I think we are still growing as a team. Garrett, Gabe, Ben, Joe and D-Will are all playing good ball and seem to comortable coming off the bench. Actually, Graham, DK and Toure are in mild slumps right now. We get them going again, which will happen, then look out.

Shocks quality depth should serve them well the deeper we go into the 18-game MVC season and should also be a big advantage in the MVC Tournament.
MSU may have benefitted with the early games at UNI and CU. They still have some depth issues and those games later in the season may have been more difficult for them to pull off. Our depth should help against that happening to us. Hopefully the two of us can keep rolling and get the seperation that could land us both in. The question is, can we get a three game or so seperation over CU/UNI? It's possible, but won't be easy and will require no slip ups against the others.

Let's say that's true. Next question: Who is the best team, WSU's 1st or 2nd team?

Based on the way they are playing since MVC play has started, it might very well be our 2nd team.

Of course, what makes our TEAM so good is that we go 10 deep and apparently do so without disrupting team chemistry.

I love the fact that while Toure is in a "minor slump" in our eyes he still goes out and puts up this line: 10 pts, 8 boards, 4 ast, 1 stl. Granted the 4 TO's are too many, but still! This team is scary good right now and they're going to be so good by the end of the season that I might just throw up.

This is a great sign for the Valley that MSU is doing so well right now. Like Sub said, the schedule might have worked out perfect for our two teams. MSU is cleaning up the rest of the "contenders" on their home courts early when their guys legs are fresh and we'll sweep through our schedule with our talent and depth.

The question is, if MSU goes 17-2* in the Valley (unlikely, but def a possibility) and WSU goes 18-0 regular season (more likely with every win ;-) ) then we beat MSU in the tournament championship (highly likely), does the "lowly" Valley send two teams to the NCAA's? I mean Barry Hinson is no longer the coach there so that has to be a factor, right?

Obviously a dream scenario but hey, it could happen. McWorld. At any rate MSU is giving us something to shoot for if we want to win the championship, and it never hurts to have a competitive race down the stretch.

This is definitely a dream scenario. And no, it can't happen. WSU and MSU must lose a combined total of at least 2 games in league play. My vote is to give the losses to MSU. They can win the rest.

A quick correction on the math.
If wsu goes 18-0 then that means we would beat MSU twice: therefore the best they could do is 16-2.

That aside, I know what you mean!

I am no fan of Creighton but I don't think their team sucks.

Their fans suck HUGE, and are mostly Nebraska wannabees, but I digress.

Watched the game against MSU twice. Both teams are razor thin depth wise.

Antoine Young is very good. Lawson is another in a long line of post people that think shooting a 3 needs to be a big part of their game (it doesn't) and whether or not he is hot, it hurts Creighton in the long run.

The new kid is a hoss, but 4G is no POY. I don't think he's going to enjoy chasing our bigs up and down the court. If Doogie McDermott MD can abuse Ellis and Hatch then so be it. He's good. Darned good especially for a freshman.

4G on defense makes Durley look like he should be defensive POY. He was completley lost when MSU started to pick and roll.

Our bigs will use and abuse him.

By the way, I meant to say Ellis and Blair guarding Doogie, not Ellis and Hatch.

That's 2 for 2, WsU, maybe I underestimated the value of a classic half horse sprinting/gorilla jumping through fiery hoop visual gag. Just maybe...

Talked to a friend of mine who lives in Omaha and is a CU Fan. Says our game with them next week will be a "White Out" game. Also, they are having a promotion on beer. 1 dollar beers from 5:30 to 7:00 pm. Should be a large and drunk crowd for that game!

Matty P invented the White Out games. It was his intuitive thinking that lead to a nationwide phenomenon.

Not surprising that they are promoting this game so hard. It's a rivalry game afterall.
