No, Aargh, I'm not going to start being critical of the play. As a fan, if I can't be extremely happy with a game like that and nit pick, well...that would just be in bad taste. However, I'm sure HCGM will find something.
This team has had some real explosive bursts, but tonight, they did it for an extended period of time. The Shocks scored 47 points in 14:00 minutes late in the second half and started the game with 17 points in the first 5:30. That's two extented periods totaling almost a half a game where they out-scored Evansville 64-24. Plus no real scoring droughts. I thought the players moved without the ball as well as I've seen so far this season.
Five guys in double figures with 12 scoring. The bench was great tonight. Ben not only scored 16 points in 16 minutes, but he also shut down Ryan when he replaced a foul-troubled Hatch who had shut Ryan out. JRag played very controlled, didn't get but one assist, but ran the team well. I thought he also played very aggressive and effective D. DWill improved as well. I was most impressed with his play during the last of the game. Playing with the walk-ons and the end of the bench, he could have tried to be the scoring show, but he didn't. He played a pass first PG and ended the night with 5 assists.
Murry had an excellent overall game with 7 assists and only 2 TOs in 24 minutes, scored 10 points going 5-6 FGs. JT also choose his shots well going 5-7 FG including 2-2 from 3 AND 3 assists. Ellis only had 4 points tonight, but lead the team with 6 rebounds. Gabe added some offense to his rebounding with 7 points.
