27 makes it sound closer than it was....Carolina shot 40% from the field and under 20% from 3.
This could have been ugly and just goes to show what 1 game can do. UE beats Butler and too many assume they are a good team.
They are not.
SIU up 22 late (it was 30). Drake is hanging on against 1-6 Eastern Michigan.
Bradley actually hanging in against Duke, but it could end up 40.
DePaul must be flipping awful but up against the Sycamores and their roster of NBAers, it wasn't a fair fight. 73-51
Illinois State choking big time, down 2 with 8 seconds left.

Not Valley-related, but in another game of interest, Tulsa got drilled tonight at home to Oklahoma State 71-54. Our second biggest potential non-con win could be.. Nicholls State? :roll:Deuces Valley.
... No really, deuces.

I think you could make a serious argument that this is the worst this league has EVER been in its history.
Well, I hear you, but not even close. This league was bloody awful in the 90s.
AWFUL.

Warren Nolan now has the Valley dropping to the #13 conference, right behind the IVY LEAGUE.
Actually tonight didn't end up as bad as it could have. Drake ended up winning by 4, SIU won by 15 and Indy St blew out DePaul. The Ohio win at Illinois St hurts.
While I didn't expect either Bradley or UE to win tonight, it certainly would have looked better if they could have kept the games closer.

Its 17 now.
Pretty decent Cal team that destroyed New Mexico by 24, a New Mexico team that beat SIU by double digits in Carbondale.
They also beat #20 Temple and won at Iowa State.
Losses are to a solid (and ranked) Notre Dame team and Boston College.
And San Diego State. 73-52 inside 3 minutes.

SDSU is even better than I thought they were, and I thought they were really good. They could easily be undefeated towards the end of January and beyond. I think it's a given they're going to be Top 10, and it wouldn't surprise me to see them knocking on the door of the Top 5.
We could very well see 2 top 20 teams go into Viejas and lose before the season is done. We might have pissed away a large portion of our at-large chances, but we were 4 minutes away from being even with one of the best teams in the country.
