You, the kid is kind of thin, but he has GREAT hoops instincts. He'll play.

      18-38 is not bad.

Congrats to the kid for his record.
Its too bad there always has to be a cynical turn. The last game I saw didn't have a 20 pt line. So it seems rather obvious that 52 pts needed a lot of shots. The kid got his shot good for him.

Then there's the inferiority complex about rather WSU might sign the kid. Isn't Wessel fairly well accomplished in the City League? And didn't we just sign one of the top ranked players in the entire state of Minnesota? I might be grasping at straws here but I would think the talent pool of a lager state than KS is deeper than one league in KS.

I have mixed feelings about the kid's record. Although I don't know Frankamp personally, I do know and went to college with his coach Gary Squires. I was sitting on the South high bench in 1979 at Southeast when Ricky Ross torched the Buffs for 47 (I think that is right). I remember Ricky beating SE by one on his own. It is my recollection at the time Darnell had the record at 42, I think it was. Coach Himebaugh let him set the record, then sent I think Larry Smith to the scorers table to replace him at the next dead ball. Ricky saw Smith at the scorers table and jacked the ball up 2 or 3 more times from unGodly range, hitting 2 before the next dead ball. I know I'm a bit biased, but many others have agreed, Ross is still the greatest player ever to come out of the GWAL.

Exactly! Just as a comparison let's look at Stephen Curry's hearlded Junior year at Davidson. That season Stephen scored 974 points on 687 shots or 1.418 points per shot. Last night Conner scored 52 points on 38 shots or 1.368 points per shot. Those numbers are pretty solid and show that Conner is fairly efficient.

Offer him a scholarship NOW. Don't wait. Sign him up today.

It is worth taking a chance on a local kid.

From everything I've heard and what has been reported here, he is looking for a high major and he has lots of time to look.

Didn't see local sports tonight...I assume nobody scored a c-note in a HS game.

I heard Frankamp scored another 34 points in their win against South.

But on a serious side...If my recollection serves correct, Ross averaged around 34 a game as a senior, which is a City League record. Will be fun to watch Frankamp as a Soph throw darts at that record. Although a South grad & a huuuuuuuge Ricky Ross fan, records are made to be broken.

According to this article it was 32.1 PPG.

Frankamp is at 38.3 after 3 games. My guess is that will come down as the season progresses. My guess is that Frankamp will also be a little more motivated about his school work than Ricky was (doesn't sound like it would take too much in that regard).

Not sure we ever got to see Ricky reach his full potential.

Here is an interesting Top 5 list published in the Topeka Capital Journal in 1999. Not sure anyone would have broken into these lists since that time.

In any case, it is a little hard to imagine Connor Frankamp matching up athletically with these players. OTOH, Larry Bird did not match up athletically very well either, but he was off the charts when it came to Basketball IQ and Skills. This may be where Connor has the goods.

Connor's career path will be interesting to follow to say the least.

BTW, I'm not saying he will be another Larry Bird. Just that there is more than one way to skin a cat.

Too bad we missed our opportunity to recruit him since we had a game last night.
