  • 52 points put up by city league sophomore

Wichita North's Conner Frankamp set a City League record last night, scoring 52 points in a loss to Northwest. Oh, he's a sophomore!

I think the coaching staff needs to keep a watchful eye on him. He sounds like a go-to player to me.

Yeah, a go-to-KU player. (or at least, that's the conventional speculation)

Sounds like he needed to "go-to" some of his teammates more often.

I'd have been kicked off the team if I shot the ball 38 times in 1 game, double overtime or not.

Put up 38 shots and get 52 points you've had a pretty damn good night.

I'd put Coach Jans and Dollar on him for the next couple of years! With the escalating cost of college and the economy nowdays, it would be beneficial for him to go to WSU, and play in front of a hometown crowd and family.

So Doc are you saying you were not the go 2 guy that Conner is? I take it that Conner is by far North's best scorer.

                  Is North's coach his father?

I actually was the go to guy, but that was a totally different era. I broke a finger on my shooting hand before a game and proceeded to shoot 3-17 and almost got run over by the team bus.

Connor's dad was an assistant last season, and I still think he is but I don't know for certain.

North is young, they lost some good seniors after last season and they aren't very big at all. It's going to be a 1 man show most of the year, but they have a chance to be decent the next 2 years, especially if they can find ANYONE big.

I believe that Connor's father is on the North staff, but Gary Squires is the head coach at North.

North is a young team and doesn't have a lot of fire power outside of Frankamp. I think once he got going they just kept riding him.

From what I hear he is very fine young man and is not a selfish player.

Give him his due. That is an outstanding performance and the kid is just a sophomore.

No doubt teams will start doubling him up and see if anyone else on North's team can beat them, but the young man clearly has some talent.

There will be crowded field of D-1 schools vying for his services including the Shocks. Chances of the Shocks signing him, while not impossible, will be difficult at best.

No doubt the kid can fill it up, but isn't projecting how good of a college player he's going to be a bit premature?

I'll believe our chances are "difficult at best" after his junior year and he has offers from Top 10 programs.

Maybe more impressive was the 29 he got against Heights... hear they have a player or two! :posterwsu:

Want a comparison? Rotnei Clark of Arkansas in high school. Whether he develops into the level of player Clark is now remains to be seen.

No doubt predicting what kind of college player he will make is difficult, if not impossible, at this point. Still as a sophomore he has done something not other player in the history of the City League has done and there have been a few talented players come through this league. He should improve over the next couple of years.

One question to be answered is how big will he get. I think he is around 6'1" now. He may or may not be done growing.
