While the relative position of our seats is about equal to our Koch seats, I am not happy being in the upper bowl.
I just did a "best availabl" query for tickets and Section 210, Row M returned. NOT good seats.
Maybe a bunch of good tickets were made available to Tulsa as an incentive to their coming to town.
On the bright side, the chairs at IBA are better than at Koch.
I'm out of town, so I don't know where we're our seats are yet. If the seating is not nearly as good as people have at Koch, I do think an explaination (probably lame, anyway) should come from the AD's office. I think our ticket/SASO money to them deserves it.

I believe the primary reason for having a game at IBA is due to hosting rounds 1 and 2 of this seasons Women's NCAA Tournament at IBA.
The NCAA requires at least one game during the season be held at the arena so that they can evaluate how it comes off and make any suggestions for changes prior to the Tournament.
They aren't going to have a Women's game that draws a 1,000 fans to "show off" to the NCAA.
I am concerned that a poor turnout for the Women's Tournament could poison our chances for hosting a couple of rounds in the Men's Tournament. Unfortunately, I do not expect that this event will be well attended, even if the Lady Shocks make it into the Tournament (which seems somewhat unlikely at this point). Hopefully, one has nothing to do with the other.

If I look straight ahead from my seat at CKA, it lines up inside the center jump circle. If I look straight ahead from my seat at IBA it lines up with the corner of the court where the west end meets the north side.
Wonder - something - ful.
There better be a sea of yellow at half-court.The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

With the late arrival of the tickets and the seating downgrades that seem to be affecting about everyone, it creates the appearance that a lot of "Best Available" tickets were sold BEFORE seats were assigned to season ticket holders.
You almost have to wonder if several thousand of the better seats were sold and those seating assignments committed BEFORE they assigned seats to the season ticket holders.
If I see any blue around mid-court, I will be seeing red.The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

I sen an email to Russell Wilkins, Asst. AD - Ticket Saels and received this response
Thank you for your email. Our intention was not to make the 2 arenas match. We used our priority point system to seat our customers. We had all of the lower bowl except for 4 sections that are being used for the Intrust Bank Arena club seats(which are guaranteed to those customers no matter what event comes in) and for student allocations which are behind the basket. Then we took the best available seats in the upper bowl. So we did use our best available seats for season tickets holders.
We feel that the priority point system is the fairest way to take care of our customers and I am sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Thanks you and Go Shockers!

My problem is I just wish I knew going into it my seats would be this bad and I would have told the ticket office to keep my tickets and I would have bought them when they went on sale to the general public...I guess that's the part that pisses me off a bit, some random Joe Blow could have bought tickets with the Intrust Bank Arena presale password (which I had) and gotten MUCH better seats than I got.
I'm hoping this is the last time WSU does IBA a favor by putting their arena on our season ticket pack...Just just stick with Home sweet Home!

I forgot all about the seat licenses. Please correct me for where I am wrong, but there are sections, right in the middle, that are owned for the year, with the right of first refusal for every event.
There aren't anywhere near 10k seats in the lower bowl. Maybe 7k....MAYBE.
SB says IBA kept 4 sections. I know section 103 are the club seats. Other than the loge boxes and the suites, I don't know of any other unavailable seating. The 3 other sections SB refers to are unknown to me. That doesn't mean they don't exist or I am questioning him, I just can't add any other details. I understand the seat licenses but if there are other "hold backs" then that sucks.
Also, it looks like students are getting down low. Maybe that's not a big deal but certainly not all students have low tickets at CKA. Based on the club seats, loge seating, media tickets, Tulsa tickets and student tickets, and if SB is correct that 3 other sections were held back for IBA, then I suspect less than 3500 tickets, out of 9800 season tickets were available to season ticket holders. Or in other words, 6000 season tickets in the upper bowl.
The unfortunate part is that a great number of season ticket holders also have club, loge and suite seating at IBA. Either a bunch of people are going to get even more great seating or there might be some really good tickets available late.

As mentioned in the email, tickets were given on the priority point system. There was no intentions of those having similar seats at Koch to having similar ones at IBA. Physically, it's impossible, considering Koch is a round barn and IBA is a rectangular box.
The lower level of IBA seats approximately 6500 seats, not 10,000. The student section covers 3 sections at IBA behind the basket in the lower level. That takes out about 1000 right there. The remaining season tickets were distributed into the upper level side sections. Yes some stretched to the corners but they stretched from corner to corner.. and it was all based on priority points as determined by the athletic department.
The remaining tickets left to the public were behind the baskets in the upper level.
Not everyone is gonna be happy. In fact, with a situation like this, there will be a small percentage of people that will be pissed. No matter what system was implemented, somebody would have felt they got screwed. It's about they best they could do with a move like this for a game that was included in the season ticket package.
It'll be interesting to see how everything works. It will be cool for the players to play in front of 14,000-15,000 Shocker fans. It'll be nice to try something different for once too, especially considering the crowds at Koch, so far, have been sucky.Deuces Valley.
... No really, deuces.

Originally posted by hoopsnutCome on people, did anyone really expect this athletic department to get it right? I for one did not. I bet calling the WSU ticket office and/or select-a-seat has just as much impact as yelling at referees. I am simply not going to the game and will not be giving my seats away. The only thing that will get their attention is empty seats. Yes, they already have the season ticket money, but a 15K seat barn with a bunch of empty seats will send a message that even they will be able to hear.
However, a big empty arena for our players is something they don't deserve and I wouldn't like to see.
There has to be a better way to make a point to the AD office without punishing the players at the same time.. especially when it's only one game we're talking about.Deuces Valley.
