Paul Miller's 30 point game in a double overtime win over SIU during the magical season was pretty frickin loud too.

Ahhh, very cool. Wish I could remember how it ended. It seemed like it was super close right down the stretch and Pickett hit another huge shot at the very end, but again I could be scrambling it up.

EDIT -- Oops, just caught the boxscore link at the top of your link -- they pulled away at then end, so it was the Pickett/Jamar combo that I'm thinking of. What a game.

Pickett may have hit a 3 right before Jamar hit his at the end of the 1st OT, but I am not sure at all if that is an accurate recall.

Florida St. was incredible. WSU's first post season home game in how many years against a decent name team. There was an attitude in the building that we had something to prove. Watching Jamar an the FSU stud go at it into overtime was amazing. At the end of the game Jamar and he stood at mid court and had a decent conversation. I would have loved to know what they said but I'm sure there was mutual respect between them.

About 10 other Shocker fans and myself were the only ones even breathing.

Nope. The quietest game was when sCUm ran us out of our own building as if they were playing against Southeast High and we had an Evansville-like crowd with 15 minutes to play in the second half.

Florida State game was the loudest and most electric.
Texas Tech game was pretty loud too.
Creighton game with Matt's shot got loud too.

Those 3 were the loudest I can remember.

I was not yet conceived for the Iowa game but I've heard the recounts numerous times.

From personal experience, Florida State, by far, was the loudest and most intense atmosphere from start to finish I have ever witnessed in any sort of forum or sport. You have to wonder how loud it would have got if we ended that mammoth game in a W..

I do remember Doc's review of that SIU game. It looks like it was 2004:
Box score for the Southern Illinois Salukis vs. Wichita State Shockers NCAAM game from January 28, 2004 on ESPN. Includes all points, rebounds and steals stats.

SIU had just cracked the Top 25. Darren Brooks had a crazy game. I remember every moment of that one. As we crept back in it, it just kept getting louder and louder. After we took the lead, I think most of us were so exhausted for yelling so much that we didn't have much left in the tank (neither did the team :( ). Definitely one of the loudest 5 or 10 minute stretches I've ever heard in Koch. .... SIU would go 17-0 that year in the Valley before losing to UNI in their last game...

The Valentine's Day Massacre of 2006 was probably the best overall moment I've ever experienced at Koch. Although the atmosphere was rather normal throughout, the singular moment when he hit the shot may have been one of the loudest single moments in Koch history. It definitely was my favorite moment (of many) and one I'll never forget. :good:
                Deuces Valley.
                ... No really, deuces.

I nominate the loudest play in Shocker history as Gaylon Nickerson's fast break 360 dunk over 2 defenders vs USSR National Team back in the day.

I'll never forget it - when he got the feed pass it got loud because you could see him accelerating, as only he could, towards the hoop. When he elevated it got louder because you knew he was gettin ready to throw it down. Then when, at the last possible second, he went 360 and slammed it over 2 Rushkies, I yelled in amazement and got, for just a second, stunned and alarmed at the insane noise level I'd never heard before.

                  It was simply incredible!!!
For some the glass is half full and for others half empty. My glass is out of ice.

                              1) Game with Iowa in the regional

                              2) Game against Tulsa. I do not remember the year but was in the early or mid 1980's. Maybe it was because I was sitting in the rafters but this was a loud game. Most of them were but this one was loud in particular.

                              3) Florida State NIT game.

The main thing I remember besides the noise was waiting in line for 3 hours to get a ticket for Florida State game.
