I suppose I wouldn't think this schedule was that bad if the tickets were free...Come on just put yourself in another man's shoes. :sarcasm:

Those of you volunteering to take tickets from season ticket holders for some of the cupcake games just need to come out to CKA for those games.
Get there about an hour early and buy a GA ticket for $18. That section will be empty an hour before the cupcake games and won't fill up for the game. There are plenty of tickets available for the "less interesting" games on the schedule.
Don't sit below about row 12. There are usually enough students to fill up that much of the section. You will have a better seat for those games than I do.
Maybe it won't work this year, but the last couple of years, you could probably get a seat for 90% of the games just by showing up an hour early.
CKA is nearly sold out to season ticket holders, but that doesn't mean you can't get a ticket if you just go to CKA.
When I was going to games and sitting in GA, there was only one game that was sold out when I got there, and there was an unsold season ticket seat for that game. The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

No one here has been complaining about not playing top BCS schools here at home, so only one person has shown their lack of smarts with that comment. The fact is: one of the reasons for not dancing last year was the lack of strength of schedule and we had 6 opportunities to improve that through the non-con games this year. Yes, everybody has cupcake games and a lot of BCS teams want their schedule filled with them as they can slide into the dance because of their conference. As you may have noticed, that doesn't work in the Valley. The non-con plays a much bigger role. We have 1 of 6 non-con home games that is meaningful. Our other potentially helpful non-con games are all on the road or neutral courts (read - tougher to win).
My comments have centered around giving up 1 home game a year by doing two alternating home/home series with mid major schools whose RPIs would be in the 75-150 range, there by eliminating 2 (not 5) cupcake games whose RPIs are probably 250-350. Mid major teams in this 75-150 range have only one way into the NCAA tourney and that's by winning their conference tourney (another might be by beating us). Therefore, the downside for them scheduling with us is very minimal with greater upside potential. This is a win-win situation for them and WSU.
By the way, I don't give up on the team I love and the school of which I'm an alumnus. And I'm not your buddy.

I'll admit I'm considering dropping my season tickets next year. I can barely justify the cost, and by that I mean I really can't but I do anyway. I'm paying to watch glorified scrimmages against teams that would struggle to beat Newman. I could save a lot of money by not having to pay SASO fees and for tickets to the worst possible games imaginable. We'll see what happens when the time comes but there's not a lot of incentive for me to continue to shell out the money I am for this level of "entertainment". We're waiting until January 9 for the first game of any value.Infinity Art Glass - Fantastic local artist and Shocker fan

If Sub can't justify the financial commitment for whatever reason then that is a choice that he is free to make and I'm not sure any of us are in a position to judge that decision. The weak home schedule may simply be the last straw but who knows what other factors are impacting such a decision.
I doubt that he is the only Shocker fan on the edge, especially in this economy.
That said I will not be suprised if one or two of these "cupcake" games turn out to be much more entertaining than anticipated.

I haven't read the entire string of posts but I don't understand the attitude of dropping tickets simply due to not liking who the opponents are. It's one thing to drop tickets because you just can't afford it, but the reason to be a season ticket holder is because you support the school and the team.
I've lived away from Wichita for nearly 15 years now and would kill to be able to watch all the home games. I'd drive 3 hours to see them play anyone near the Houston area if they'd ever come down this way and I know for a fact many of the players parents drive to every home game (and many away games) just to show the support to their kids. You all should appreciate that you're able to go to all these games and that its in your own backyard. That's about all I have to say about this topic but needed to get it out there. And yes, I will be driving to Shreveport to see them play LSU (5 hours).

Especially when we're finally getting into the 'thick' part after several years of 'thin'.
Not that some disappointment in the schedule isn't warranted, but it's out, it's time to look forward to this team making a serious run this year, and I think they can and will do that regardless of the scheduling hiccups.

And the example with "parents" - well that is parents. Another total different animal and is irrelevant to the discussion.

I can understand the lack of interest in the cupcake teams we play at home. It is a shame that we cannot get the likes of KU, KSU, OSU, OU ect.. to play us at CKA. However lets look at the 2006 sweet 16 season.. I cannot imagine anyone thought that season was boring to be a part of...and I can think of only Providence as being the only home game of any interest outside of the conference and Bracket Busters. This is the way our schedule has always been, we would have been "close" to an at-large bid if we hadn't lost our games at Drake and Evansville last year, and our schedule really stunk, this years is twice as good...
It isn't perfect but it is good enough to get us an at-large bid if we can do some damage in our big games, and it is well worth the money for me.
EDIT: We did play Miami of Ohio in the Bracket Busters return game, I suppose that wasn't a cupcake either. And Northwestern State, who was suppose to be a cupcake...turned out to be pretty good, regardless I don't see either of those games having a TON more value than this years round of SWAC's and so forth.Goo Shockers
