You have already said that you would be willing, as a season ticket holder, to give up a home game in favor of a higher quality road game. Yet, in your explanation of why you would drop your tickets, it is because of not getting entertaining home games until Jan. 9th. The thing it would take to get a better schedule would do absolutely nothing to get you more entertaining home games in the non-conference.
In my previos scenarios we'd be getting H/H with decent teams so we wouldn't be giving up a lot. I could sacrifice if I felt there was more effort going on. Even better cupcakes would be ok. Six teams with the RPIs of this schedule is ridiculous. I'm strapped as it is and there were a number of games last year I spent more time texting and playing on FB than enjoying the game because there was nothing to enjoy. They were boring. It appears we'll have six of those this year too. I don't have a lot of money and it's hard to justify continuing to spend it on this. It'd be a lot cheaper for me to not have the tix and take a chance on getting them elsewhere. A hell of a lot cheaper. But I'm hoping for more. I'll let you know my decision come spring.

Is it too much to ask to get a sub 200 RPI team at CKA?

        • Maybe they won't schedule us because of our FIGHT SONG! It talks about fighting, death, battle, making our enemies kneel, and is overall just culturally insensitive as its clearly biased toward the colors black and gold.

All joking aside, there isn't a chance that a public (state) school would approve the lyrics to such a good fight song in today's backwards political environment.

          You be the judge:

          Shocker Fight Song

Go, you Shockers, fight the enemy,
Make them kneel before our Varsity,
We're behind you with our battle cry.
Indestructible we'll do or die for
          Wichita State University.
We are brave and we're bold,
So we will Fight, Fight, Wichita,
          For the Black and Gold.

Go, you Shockers, fight the enemy,
Make them kneel before our Varsity,
We're behind you with our battle cry.

And this is relevant to our schedule how? I dunno. But since I mentioned the word schedule I guess it works in this thread.

          • It's one big gigantic circle with this scheduling thing. If season ticket holders start dropping, we lose some revenue. And with less revenue, we have less money to buy teams into Koch. But if we wanna make a point that this type of schedule for this type of team with the amount of money some of us put into it is not acceptable, how do we get that point across? In the pocketbook, right?

I just don't know what to think. Are we really trying all routes to get the schedule our team deserves? It's all really disappointing and kinda depressing if you really start thinking about it...

              • Was it really our strength of schedule last year that did us in?

Or was it losses to Pitt, Utah State, Drake !, Evansville! and Bradley.

We had a schedule that should have made us NCAA tourney bound and we screwed the pooch.

What fs WSU doesn't lose to just Drake and Evansville?

Wow in some weird way it actually CAN be sung, for the most part, to the tune of Green Acres. Go figure!

Anybody that gets beat by Evansville should automatically be eliminated from all consideraion for the NCAA tourney.

                    • The four cupcakes per year could hurt in case we end up in a tie with somebody in the conference standings. I believe ties are now broken by RPI's, right?

                      • I haven't had time to look at the schedules for other Valley teams, but for those who have had time to do so, how do the other teams' schedules look as far as marquee matchups go? I remember that a big part of the league's success in 2006 in getting so many teams into the Dance was that several of the squads beat some pretty good competition (and, for the most part, took care of business against the cupcakes), thus raising everyone's RPI since the conference games were more valuable. I have heard that a stronger valley is expected this year, due to more upperclassmen on more teams. Is this the case? Lots of people are saying that the UCONN is a must-win situation or we're doomed, but I'm wondering whether there's a possibility for the combination of 1) stronger teams and 2) schedules with marquee opponents on them to give the conference more than one bid, such that both a regular season winner and a tourney winner could get in. Thoughts?

Tulsa IBA game is included in the season ticket package. But I pretty much agree with your point. CKA games in the non-con are absolutely horrendous. I don't think the continual price hike for season tickets has been justified.

If it's so bad then I will GLADLY take tickets to any games that you have to complain about going to. If it is going to be "absolutely horrendous" for you then please give the tickets on to someone who would love nothing more than to be there.

Thats for both of you. I promise you I can get those tickets to people, like me, who would not complain one bit about the opponent. People who would love to go on to watch the shox live. So if it really is so bad you can go ahead and pm me, and I will take the tickets off your hands.
That's easy to say when they're free to you. It's also easy to sit on the fence and ask for handouts from people who have a beef with the quality of schedule given the prices we pay for season tickets. If it's not a handout you seek, then there are still tickets available. Either way, I wouldn't get down on the people who are a little critical of the schedule considering we're the ones paying the big bucks.

And, we go into this deal sight unseen hoping for the best. Most don't mind paying the money, we just want to see quality opponents. Non-season ticket holders can pick and choose what they want to pay to see.

I'm not getting down on you, just saying that if you want to complain so much then give your tickets to someone who can't afford to buy season tickets. You know going in to the season your going to have some cupcakes, not many teams don't. I just see people complaining about having to go cheer on the shox play some #### team, when if its gonna be SOOO bad for you...give them to someone who would love to be there. Your acting like its a chore to go watch them. You also know that when you buy the tickets the shox won't be playing the Dukes and North Carolina's every game.
You're missing the point. The people who pay the money have a right to complain a little when they’re dissatisfied. Most importantly, I’ll repeat what others have stated; this kind of scheduling played a huge part in this team falling short in receiving a bid to the big dance last year. This schedule hurts the teams chances again this year, but it also impacts the people who pay to support this team through SASO donations and ticket purchases. I’m guessing you don’t pay a dime to this institution and that’s fine, but don’t attempt to chastise the ones who do. There are others on this board who are not season tickets holders who are also unhappy about this schedule. They voice displeasure (as is their right), but don’t give their radio, television, or computer to someone that can’t afford one because they’re unhappy and complain. If one buys a new car and it quits running, should they complain about it to the dealership or give the car to the first jerk they see who can’t afford one? Should the dealer's salesman tell them, "Well, if you don't like it, don't drive it, give it to me". Everyone expects a couple sub-par teams on the schedule, but this is more than what most had expected or hoped for, and many are somewhat disapointed and unhappy to varying degrees. That doesn’t translate into a payday for you.

I'm just reading peoples comments and its like the world is over because of the last, 3 home games that were added I believe? In reality I think this is a much better schedule than last year, far and above last year. Your right, last years schedule was a big reason we didn't get an at large. We have one this year that if we can take care of business we can get an at large if need be. I'm sorry I got all your guys panties in a bunch about the subject. I agree season ticket holders should have a little reason to gripe. Although when we are a team that is picked to win the Valley, well should be, then its definatly gonna be hard to get good teams on the schedule. We were the last team in the Valley to release it so i'd assume that we had a couple better teams fall through, or finally gave up and settled for the lesser teams. It seems to me that WSU won't settle for a one and done on the road, whether the fans want it or not.

I haven't had time to look in-depth. But a quick overview and it seems as you would expect. The teams with low expectations this year have a pretty tough schedule and the teams that are expected to compete in the Valley are fairly close in terms of # of cupcakes. The only good games most of those teams have are ones they play in expempt tournements or through the MWC vs MVC matchup...just like ours.

A: WSU is still looking for a scrimmage opponent. Or it could schedule another exhibition.
My guess is it is too late to find a scrimmage opponent as pretty much everyone has released their schedule and they either a) already have a scrimmage opponent or b) they already have 2 exhibitions scheduled. I bet we schedule another exhibition.
