As for the auto bid, I've always been a fan of it, but something needs to be done either about auto bids, or about teams moving to D1. The way I see it, there are three options; give out more auto bids when a new conference pops up, less at-large bids; expand the tournament to 96 or 128 teams; actually have standards for being D1. I choose the third option, although it looks like the answer will be tournament expansion, my guess is we'll see 96 or 128 teams within 5-10 years.
