  • Butler and St. Louis

The Valley needs to expand to twelve teams adding Butler and St. Louis. Two huge television markets would fit nicely. The valley could then leverage a better television deal. Omaha, Wichita, St. Louis, and Indy would be nice selling points. As the major conferences expand the Valley must expand as well. If not we will continue to be a one bid league.

and become a meaningful FOOTBALL conference.

Forget moving to 12 teams. Drop 2 teams in the Valley and add them. Won't happen though. Also Elgin has said that he does not want to go bigger than 10 teams.

The MVC would get a double dose of misguided elitist dingleberries if we added St. Louis. It is located in a great media market but the market doesn't pay alot of attention to the Billikens. They opened a new $81,000,000 on campus arena this year. Attendance was 3/4 of capacity and their coverage is on the 6th page of the Post Dispatch.

          Think Creighton x 2.

Whenever the Big Ten expansion/Big East implosion causes a cascade of conference realignment, I believe you will see Butler, Dayton, Xavier, Depaul, and 4 to 6 other similar midwest (likely private) coalesce into a "new" conference that will resemble the MCC of the early 80s

I dont know how this would work but what about a Tulsa, ORU, Houston, UTEP, WSU, Creghton, NMSt., USU, Nevada, UNLV conference......that would reguire multiple conference hi-jackings but .....SDST would be another option but adds alot of travel...to alot of travel allready....

or drop UNLV, Nevada and USU and add Missouri St., Ill st and SIU

                Football screws up that idea.

I still contend that if a conference has 8-10 football schools, adding a couple of schools that offer a lot in other sports (and revenue) would be very plausible.

Maybe someday we can add a couple of key Schools to the Valley that would enhance our Conference. It also seems prudent to start approaching the key Mid-Majors that are on the rise and Dancing in March, to see if we can continue to strengthen our schedule and maybe get more games on the tube with possible National coverage?

Catch-22. Strengthen SOS while at the same time having mid-majors beat each other up, worsening the W-L records.

A physician called into a radio show and said:

Butler won't want to leave the cushy Horizon League where they face no competition and go to the NCAA tourny each year for another one bid league in the MVC. Butler has no reason to leave their conference for another mid-major conference. If anything, they'll jump to a power conference.

the mvc wont be a one bid conference forever. I dont think we'll be getting four again any time soon, but a very possible 2 next year
