Assuming Xavier holds on there will be 5 "mid-majors" in the sweet 16.
Xavier, St. Mary's, UNI, Cornell, and Butler.
Dont worry, Jim Isch (President of the NCAA) & Eugene Smith (2010-11 Selection Committee Head) will take care of everything for us next year. They will make sure only 4, or less, mid-majors will be attending the "Ball."
Wait just a minute!!! Is it fair to experts like Billy Packer that 5 "mid-majors" might get in the Sweet 16? After all, remember all the balking, interrupting, and fussing back when the Mo Valley got in 4 teams and probably should have had 5? Then Bradley and WSU made the Sweet 16 that very Dance. Bradley beats KU and we beat Tennessee to get there. Even so, they turn their noses up to the Valley every sense.
Speaking of Tennessee, I heard Coach Pearl on the radio saying how hopeful they were to for the first time just to make the Elite 8. Now I was not so sure this was just in his coaching tenure or ever, which was how I understood it. That goes to show that we have a rich bb tradition here at WSU and we are not done yet.
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.
