LOL Glad I was missed. :yahoo:

But, I'm back with a better attitude and a brighter outlook on WSU athletics. I was getting a little too "shockernet-ty" with my comments before so I took a vacation, trolled phog.net and now I'm back! Hooray for everyone! :D

      • I felt like that when

Villanova won the title the first year of expansion....
Maybe it doesn't happen if there is no 45 second shot clock, no 3 point line, etc.
When the field expanded to 64 there were less than 250 Division 1 teams.
Now there are 343 and the % only change by less than 2%.

Go back to all the titles UCLA won and they would run the table and the #2 in the Country USC had 1 loss to UCLA and couldn't go to the tourney because 1 team per region....

        Things change....

The Year we were hosed when Jacobson hit the 3 pointer and they had a higher RPI , lost in the 1st round the MO VALLEY Tourney but they got in over Wichita State...

So Let's throw it out there, the NIT gets swalled up in the NCAA Tournament...
THat's the bottom line, now I don't need to hear or listen about bracketology or Joe Lunardi anymore....

I can live with that, I won't lose sleep over it and maybe in 05-06 The Mo Valley would have had 5 teams in a 96 Team Field....

Mentally the N.I.T. doesn't mean $hit....pardon my french.... Psychologically these are kids and human beings and if your not playing on CBS to go and play on that elevated court in front of 75k fans....

You have to look at it that way, sometimes you lose steam the kids hadn't played in almost 2 weeks....

          Really this doesnt mean anything.

There are going to be teams that deserved to go to the tournament who will likely play bad and lose. There was no execution when it was needed.

Doesnt mean our "case" for the NCAA tournament is invalid
Taken objectively, you're probably right. But these are the kinds of things the selection committee uses to shaft the "mid-majors." It's just really disappointing to lose this kind of a game at home.
While I respect both of your opinions (and everyone else if they agree) that you believe WSU got "shafted" and had a "case" for an NCAA tourny bid, but I respectfully disagree. WSU lost to numerous teams it should have beaten and lost to the teams that would have made their resume that much better. Even the "big win" over Texas Tech really meant nothing by the end of the season. Face it, WSU got what it deserved this year, a nice seed in the NIT and a home game. Shocker fans need to be proud of the team that has improved tremendously the past few years, instead of finding ways to complain about getting "no respect" or getting "shafted by the man". Not many years go by where WSU fans can say, "we had a higher seed than both UNC and UCONN in a tournament". Yes, WSU lost, but Nevada is a good team and would have most likely finished in the top 3 of the MVC this year.

Now, time to enjoy baseball. 8)
I wasnt making a case for or against.

Im just saying that based upon this performance shouldnt qualify as a reason why we shouldnt have been. No more than if we *or Nevada* won by 75 would make a case as to why we should have been in.

          • Yeah this loss stinks but lets keep this in perspective. It took MT 5 years to get the program back to the NCAA's so let's give GM some slack. He'll get us there, but as a mid-major in a fairly tough conference traditionally speaking, it takes longer to rebuild.

An NIT visit in just his third year considering where he had to start from is no joke. We will be longer and more athletic next season with a better schedule. The guys will most certainly learn from their CBI and NIT experiences and I'm predicting at least NCAA bubble discussion next year.

No real effort. No real desire. Not really a lot to say. Kinda glad the season's over. It was dragging...

And with baseball down the crapper, it really is gonna be a long offseason..

              Thanks for the memories Clevin.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to single you out ASM. I agree with what you posted here. This game had no relevance towards what happened on Sunday. If it did, then UNC fans have a reason to complain that they didn't get in now that they beat W&M.

                  • I watched both Northeastern and William & Mary play last night (both we're 5 seeds in the NIT). Although of course I didn't get to watch from a TV angle tonight, Nevada is leaps and bounds better than both those teams. And they we're a 6 seed. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see Nevada make it to MSG.

                    • Well, I am depressed, and won't say what is on my mind because it would be too negative. This team lacked consistency though, and tonight was the final slap in the face by a 6 seed in our own arena.

If you can't win one in the NIT, you sure don't deserve to be in the Big Dance.

                      • Just got home from the game - missed free throws and missed shots in the lane killed us, BUT

Did anyone else notice when the guy did is "in your face move" and dunked over GS? Literally, he put one hand in GS's face and shoved him down while dunking with the other.

Easy now. UNC beat Nevada and many think they are the worst thing ever.

                          • Went to the game.... just never could get a flow going. Free throws hurt and we lost 14-18 points by missing easy lay-ins or tips. Just a frustrating night.

                            • This Steve caller on the post game show is kinda scary, I thought I was going to hear another crying call of "please don't leave? <Sob>, <snivel>". It's good to thanks they're appreciated & loved but don't take it to the level of borderline stalking material.

                              • This was a game where Gabe not being a full strength and David being out really hurt us, since they could have really helped match the length and athleticism of Nevada.

This game is also further evidence of why the Valley needs to move the Championship later, even if it means losing the CBS broadcast. We clearly didn't get any help from it in terms of at-large consideration, and it sure looked like the long layoff left us really rusty for this game (as you could see by how we started the game).
