They probably didn't call anything because of that under-the-basket rule.
I guess I can buy the idea that if the offensive player is close enough to dunk, the defender is under the basket.

The truly egregious call was the one where the guard lowered his shoulder into Demetric on the inbounds play and Demetric was called for a block.

    • I hope, after watching the Nevada game "film", that our starting center (GS) and power forward (JT/GB) will accept the notion next year that layups are for the wee folk.

      Real Big Men Dunk!!!!
I agree - watching the game it looked like our "bigs" were man-handled all night long.

This was a great year - thanks for all the efforts

      • When you are in a game where the shoulder-to-shoulder stuff under the basket is not whistled as a foul, you must be sure that you are the one fouling bigger, harder, rather than the one getting shoved around. "when he sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue".

        • Here is a video of it.

His feet left the ground, that's why it wasn't a charge.

Good game guys, you all are a great fan base.

Leaving his feet has absolutely nothing do with being a PC or not.
It is strictly a matter of whether he has a legal guarding position and the offensive player initiated contact.

Based on what I saw, the no-call was primarily due to GS taking a defensive position underneath the basket.
Instead of calling a block, the official decided to let it go and probably was a good no-call. 8)
Above all, make the right call.

It's a bit amazing how many people think "having his feet set" or not results in a defensive foul. Once the guarding position is established you can perform a cha-cha as long as you don't initiate contact. Unless you dance like me, and then you will draw a technical, but I digress.

From my angle the offensive player raised his off-ball hand and planted it on Garrett's chest, pushing him over. I was on an angle to see the foul and it was one of those fouls where refs on the floor would have been at a bad angle to see his right arm.

              • Ah I just went back further in this thread and realized I am referring to a different play than the dunk.
