Good season Shockers. Next year will (hopefully) be better. Actually, I'd rather lose in the 1st round of the NIT than advance 3 rounds in the CBI, or whatever that travesty WSU was in last year was called.

      Really this doesnt mean anything.

There are going to be teams that deserved to go to the tournament who will likely play bad and lose. There was no execution when it was needed.

Doesnt mean our "case" for the NCAA tournament is invalid

        Well, that stinks.

It just confirms that the MVC was truely a one-bid league. Illinois State and us did not represent in the NIT. We had no business even being discussed as an at-large bubble team.

We have improved and look forward to the fall. We won't win 25 games next year, but we will playing and beating some better teams.

Now, onto baseball which is a good thing?

Whoever was complaining about WSU not getting into the NCAA this year is probably blaming this loss on the refs.....

            Really?

That was in response to the post above blaming the loss on GS. You're right though, it is obvious.

I do have to say though that I feel much better about DW taking over next season the way he's played the last few games. I thought the Shocks played some of the best basketball tonight with him at the helm.

They looked like a tired, uninterested team.

How they could look/be tired after a week+ lay off is beyond me.

              Welcome to a long off-season guys. 8)

Taken objectively, you're probably right. But these are the kinds of things the selection committee uses to shaft the "mid-majors." It's just really disappointing to lose this kind of a game at home.

                    Hmmmmmm

Well it depends on what the next step for expansion is.
Recruiting, Buy Out Games, Better scheduling, getting home and home's everyone.

Seeds 1-12 will be protected and the 32 PIG/Bubble Teams play double elimination ....or the other proposal are the top 32 Teams/Conf Auto Champs get a bye and await a 1 round 64 Team PIG.....(Play In Game)

I understand the loss is fresh, however.
With expansion comes a different philosophy in recruiting as well.
Instead of 1 team conf bids...If 2 or 3 teams hit the 22-25 win plateau with some ooc success then a 96 team will work for many....

                    Off Season should be hectic

While I respect both of your opinions (and everyone else if they agree) that you believe WSU got "shafted" and had a "case" for an NCAA tourny bid, but I respectfully disagree. WSU lost to numerous teams it should have beaten and lost to the teams that would have made their resume that much better. Even the "big win" over Texas Tech really meant nothing by the end of the season. Face it, WSU got what it deserved this year, a nice seed in the NIT and a home game. Shocker fans need to be proud of the team that has improved tremendously the past few years, instead of finding ways to complain about getting "no respect" or getting "shafted by the man". Not many years go by where WSU fans can say, "we had a higher seed than both UNC and UCONN in a tournament". Yes, WSU lost, but Nevada is a good team and would have most likely finished in the top 3 of the MVC this year.

                      • Living in the Mid Major Bubble for 7 Years

Gave me a bigger appreciation for basketball, unless we are talking about the crass rudeness of those fans from Nebraska when I was in St.Louis....

I live in the bubble which is the East Coast Bias.....
To read about the same teams, players, the same announcers doing only a select few teams!!!! College Game Day in Wichita would be Amazing.

After going to Kentucky to a game, I was asked by a few people so is this great? Loudest place you've ever been?

I look around and All I said was top 5......

                        Wichita State
                        Albany
                        Duke
                        Kentucky
                        Fitzgerald Fieldhouse
                        ok that one doesn't Count....
Madison Square Garden depends on who's playing.

What I still can't stomach after all of these years.
                        Kansas not playing Wichita State...

Things like that, common sense like things like that will never stop me from my crusade at Hoops equality and at least expanding the field is an excellent start and too bad Mr.Myles Brand had to die for it to be discussed and be 2 steps away from happening...

They won't expand to 96. This year should have shown the NCAA that not more than 74 teams deserved to be in the tourny and adding 31 more teams would only water it down to the point where nobody cares. When people are arguing that a 339 SOS team should have gotten in, or arguing that a team with 1 more in-conference win than someone else should have gotten in, then a tournament has reached its maximum growth. I think the only expansion possible is to have 4 Play in Games for 8 teams to play to face the 1 seed. Anything else would be a disaster.

Well said, but enjoying the baseball team is going to be hard at the rate they are performing.

No real effort. No real desire. Not really a lot to say. Kinda glad the season's over. It was dragging...

And with baseball down the crapper, it really is gonna be a long offseason..

                              Thanks for the memories Clevin.
