  • Im going to put it like this.

I dont know what kind of fracture David Kyles had on his hand. I just recently got over a boxers fracture myself that happened mid october.

I was in a hard splint for one week. Then they allowed me to have a "soft splint" for one month. during that time I was in the office rehabbing my hand through various means trying to get full functionality of the hand. Even when the rehabbing doctor released me as being near 100% she still advised that I stay off the hand "doing any physical" until after I saw my doctor which wasnt until another couple of weeks.

I didnt receive my full release until New Years Eve of this year.

It takes 6-8 weeks minimum for a boxers break to heal. And then on top of that you have to find your groove and get back to using a hand you havent been allowed to pick your nose with let alone play basketball with.

Pinstripers your act is old re: players transferring. If a player is out then they will be out. Settle the **** down and stop worrying about it. Because a player CANNOT play because he is injured means HE CANNOT PLAY BECAUSE HE IS INJURED. Its not rocket science McFly.

      • Furthermore, I did feel we Shocker fans last night were "strongly willing the team to win." Also, The slam dunk on Stutz was indeed a charge. It was just one of those nights where opportunity was knocking and it is rare that our beloved Shocks don't answer all knocking, at least at our HOUSE!!! Most D-1 teams end the Season with a loss. However, I would rather had us head to Rhode Island with the final destination being a Garden Party!!!!!!!

        • Actually, what I meant was that he didn't get on the floor because coach felt that such a move would not help us win the game.

          • I know this will sound cliche, but last night was a screw job. DWill is not in foul trouble if he doesn't get steamrolled twice, both times getting the foul on him. If you ask me, that was Nevada's biggest advantage: the ability to sell the wrong call.

Too many bad calls went their way.

Oh, and another note many of you will like, I overheard the big blonde guy from 117 on my way out of the game remarking that this was probably his last basketball game as a student, so go ahead and rejoice. I know I'll miss him. He was one hell of a fan.
Deep in the heart of couldn't give a crap about college basketball-land and I miss the SHOX.

            • Did it seem to anyone else that Babbitt did not get his shot off it time? We were sitting down in that corner and we thought the ball was in his hand when the backboard lit up. It wasn't possible to hear a buzzer. We thought for sure the officials would have gone to the scorers table to look at a replay.

                • Our crowd got some mention in the Reno paper today. An excerpt from their sports page today:
                  BIG ROAD CROWD FOR PACK

Although the crowd might not have been big by Wichita State standards, the 9,112 fans who watched the game was the Wolf Pack's fourth-largest for a road game this year (behind the UNLV, North Carolina and Utah State crowds).

"They have a great crowd but I think Utah State is still probably No. 1," Brandon Fields said in comparing the best crowds the team has played in front of this season. "They're probably in the top two or three."

Carter used a whiteboard throughout the game to relay offensive plays to his team, a device he's employed only a few times this season.

"That's just for the noise. Carter said. "You can't hear in here. We bring it every game, but if we don't need it, we won't use it."

However, the crowd was the Shockers smallest of the season in 18 home games.

Maybe - MAYBE the player had the ball out of his hand when he hit Stutz, but there was no doubt in my mind that it was a charge. For those not in attendance - Stutz ended up on the floor about four feet behind where his feet were planted firmly for a good two seconds.

Give Stutz another 20 pounds and the experience of that charge. He's already learned how to set a pick and stay pretty solid as the defender bounces off him. I suspect that the next time someone runs into Stutz that way that Stutz might have his body braced for contact a bit differently. Then opponents think twice about risking a block/charge call because the impact is rather unpleasant.
It pains me to even post this, but the following link will take you to a gallery that contains a telling photo.

While I was there to witness it in person, I could not help from turning my head in shameful anticipation as the "posterization" occurred. So this is actually the best view I've had thus far...OUCH!!

Charge or not (which it clearly was in my opinion), this was a pretty remarkable play by a 6' 4" Brandon Fields.

                        • Sorry, there are always questionable calls in every game but that was very definitely NOT a charge. See video (about 1 minute in) Stutz would've drawn the charge had he not left his feet.

Best of luck next season. I know it was a disappointing season for you guys, as it was for us as well.

                          Best regards,

                            • I hope, after watching the Nevada game "film", that our starting center (GS) and power forward (JT/GB) will accept the notion next year that layups are for the wee folk.

                              Real Big Men Dunk!!!!

They probably didn't call anything because of that under-the-basket rule.
