It sounds like they fired him for yelling profanities at a baseball game. How convenient. It is nice when a guy that you can't let go because he has a big buy out in his contract does something stupid so that you can fire him with cause.

        • Looks like Brad Stevens will stay at Butler for now:

Question: Should we be making a similar commitment to HCGM are should we wait until he gets to a Final Four?

          • So what if they signed him for another 12 years? Unless they doubled his salary and substantially increased his buyout that doesn't amount to a hill of beans.

It does give the Coach some job security, but it probably doesn't do that much for Butler depending on what his buyout terms were. Nevertheless, he has re-upped with Butler at a time when he is about as hot a commodity as he ever will be so whatever they did must have appealed to Coach Stevens.

Not sure how much dinero Butler made by making the Final Four.

                  Smart choice for CU.

                  • Be even smarter if they chose him, but... we all know that he is recently from a "mid-major" school or two and, as a result, cannot coach at a big-time school... (cough) like Colorado.

                    • Boyle should wait for a better job than CU. That program is in absolute shambles and successful coaches haven't been able to turn the tide there.

CU today < WSU when Turgeon came here.

That's kind of sad, because CU has some great scenery all the way from the mountains to the bushes. The coeds ain't bad either.

                          • For the past month, universities have fired and hired at a rapid rate. Oregon has done just one of those things. What is taking the Ducks so long to make a choice? Well … where shall we start?

As much as the university has been victimized by its own delusions of grandeur, it also has been done in by the double-top-secret way coaching searches are conducted these days.

According to various reports, Oregon has contacted and been refuted by Mark Turgeon, Jamie Dixon, Brad Stevens, Smith and Steve Alford.
The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off.

“The rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying. But it was also the tragic consequence of the informational malnourishment so badly afflicting the nation. ... Americans gorge themselves daily on empty informational calories, indulging their sugar fixes of self-affirming half-truths and even outright lies.'
