Tonight, we played with purpose and was in control of our own destiny. That cat ( Ricks?) that grabbed Hannah's jersey for the "big I call" had been hand-checking Hannah so hard and often with no calls that I was elated to see that happen. Mo State has some solid players and they play "gut-check-hard-nosed ball and hustle."
Ricks has gotten away with murder every time I have seen him play. It isn't that he doesn't get quite a few steals clean, because he does. It is that he goes for the steal every time, and when he doesn't get it, he pushes guys or runs up their backs to get back in front of the play, and yet he never gets called for it. I don't understand why there seems to be a special set of rules that only apply to him, when every other player on the court for both teams would have been called for a foul.
I'll give this to Ricks, he doesn't gloat over it, he doesn't showboat over it, and as far as I can tell he doesn't run his mouth. He played Clev very hard in Wichita and there was a late game situation where they still showed each other respect. You don't see that when a guy like Punk Allen plays dirty.
Maybe I'm digging / guessing or whatever but I'll give him credit for just going out and playing.

There was a time when he knocked Hannah on his butt to get a clear shot right along the baseline. He walked over to Hannah and I thought he was going to offer a hand to help Hannah up. Nope! He nearly straddled Hannah and just stood there staring at him.
He also had the time in the first half when the refs warned him about what was going on with Williams and it was pretty clear Williams wasn't the reason the refs stopped play.
He definitely earned the screen Stutz set.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades. We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.
For those of us out of town, hopefully, someone can show the video of the Stutz screen that everyone is talking about
Ever seen those old NFL folly videos where the wide receiver collides with the goal post back when it was still in play? Little, if any, give on Stutz's part.

Nice description.
If I were capable of taking it from the DVR and putting it online I would.

That definitely was not a good feeling for Ricks, after it occurred. It sounds like it did rattle the gray matter a little bit.

The popular thing to do on youtube these days is to just point your camera on video mode on your TV
That was a great pick by Stutz. And I loved it considering how Ricks stood over Hannah and talked crap a little while earlier.
"He called me around noon and was thrilled," Brandt said. "He said he was going to be a Shocker forever." -- RIP Guy, you WILL indeed be a Shocker forever!
In the postgame discussion with Mike Kennedy, Mike was commenting on how well Garrett has played in recent games and wondering what helped him to progress so much recently?
Garrett mentioned someone helping him with his shot, I believe.
I was distracted briefly and was not able to concentrate on what exactly he said.
Does anyone recall who he mentioned as helping him?
As a side comment: from his pregame discussion with Mike, Coach Marshall really holds Garrett in high regard.
I think he started his response by saying something on the order of, "taking away the basketball side of things, I would be very proud if my son turned out to be the quality of character that Garrett is."
Something tells me that you're going to have several team leaders next year, with Garrett being one of those leaders.
