The NCAA findings cost Bredehoft his job. Rightfully so. A couple of years ago Cleo Littleton ran into him. Ted called him Stallworth.

So what transgressions would you say cost Ted his job? Was it boosters indiscretions and lack of judgement...or can you point to something he personally did.

I hope when Im Ted's age my major faux paux is a lack of memory and confusing someones name....

He underwent a quadruple bypass around 5 years ago and works out regularly....He always was a pretty fit individual going back to his wrestling days and his time as Wrestling coach at ASU....where he also was very much involved in starting a little bowl game called the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl. Along with hiring the nations first African American as a D1 Head football coach while at Wichita State. I think his accomplishments at WSU are long and well respected...

Does anyone recall how we got Coach Smithson to begin with.....I think thats a pretty good story as well....
1/16/2010 on the "Screw at the Q" HCGM... " Ive never seen a foul parade like that...If you would of let me know it was going to be a foul parade I would of brought a different team" .... "dont talk to me about fouls....Ive got to go back and look at some tape... I have some thoughts but I need to look at the tape and then I will have something very strong to say"

We hired him away from Illinois State, and he brought Randy with him. Randy had already played a year or two with the Redbirds.

If memory holds correct he was interested in the job, gave it a hard look and decided at the 11th hour he couldnt do it because of his cancer.

Then like two months later he passed.

As far as Fogler is concerned. I was 8 years old when he left. So I didnt know anything about anything but was upset when he left.
I could be wrong, but I think Jim V. turned down a very substantial sum from us to go back to ESPN and he later found out he had cancer. He was interviewed in Wichita by our search committee.

I loved it when the frat house on 21st was under construction and somebody painted "Valvano" on a rickety mailbox outside.
I heard two stories on Jimmy V:

One goes like ShockBall said: He turned down our money and went back to ESPN, then shortly thereafter discovered he had cancer.

The other says it was pretty much a done deal he was gonna be our next coach, 'til the cancer was found in a required physical. It played out as him turning WSU down cuz he probably wasn't ready to go public with his newfound disease.

Don't know which is true, but I -- like a lot of others on here -- was thrilled when the job went to Scott Thompson instead. Loved that guy and really wanted him to succeed. Was sad and confused when he didn't. Can still remember the crowds of around 5,000 during then end of his final season.
