Back to the NIT bracket watch, NIT-ology projects us to host Tulsa.

That's almost as intriguing as hosting UNC, considering how hard we recruited Uzoh and start a series with them next season.

I'll take Tulsa anytime, multiple times. Tulsa is/was our biggest rival. I'd play them at home, on the road, at a neutral site, it doesn't matter.

If you're to young to remember the rivalry, do your research and get caught up on the history.

I'd still rather see WSU play someone other than Tulsa in the NIT. If there wasn't a renewal of the rivalry scheduled to start next year, I would think differently. But a chance at an ACC or SEC school would be good for this team.

A Tulsa matchup would be great. Nice regional dog-fight.

I would still rather see a team we normally wouldn't in Koch Arena. Tulsa doesn't intrigue me much at all honestly. Yes, I'm too young to remember the rivalry. And I have done all the research necessary. Doesn't make me feel any different though. Mostly because all of the people that were involved with the rivalry (coaches, players...and even some fans) are no longer around.

I am happy we are starting a series with them as it's better than some of the other teams we've been having on the schedule. That is about the only part that makes it exciting. I don't expect the crowds to be any more energetic or louder than normal against Tulsa. Perhaps it will become a rivalry again. But this rivalry is pretty dead IMHO. Too much time has passed.

                We play Tulsa next year.

I want a matchup we normally couldn't get in Koch.

In this case, I would rather play someone other than Tulsa, I agree. Lots of good points listed above. I think the NIT usually does the regional thing in the first round, though, don't they?

keep in mind, today's NIT is not the same as the NIT of 4 years ago.

when the NIT sued the NCAA for being a monopoly, the NCAA's solution was to just buyout the NIT and absorb them in.

Yeah, but I think the seeding will be pretty close to accurate. This isn't as money driven as before. So the things we know:

                      1) The better seed plays at home until Madison Square Garden. Doesn't matter about how many seats you can fill.

                      2) Any regular season champs that don't get invited to the NCAA tourney get the automatic bid for the NIT

                      anything else that has changed?

well Im glad they got that 2000 win out of the way....if they did come here...Could you imagine the horror of being UNC's 2000th win...and it being on the road in our house? Also in Roy boys worst year as a coach at UNC ...Oh my god that would be fricking ugly. I dont think we could pass it up though

Based on the seeding and bracket insertion criteria, they seed and bracket based on regions. They can even change the seed to accomplish that goal. At most, a team will only move to the next closest region, however those are determined.

Bottom line is I think the odds of us hosting an east coast team like UNC are very small.
