I will say that some on here has wondered if Stutz will redshirt next year. The valuable minutes he is giving us THIS year I'm not sure this team can afford it. Not unless Durley figures out how to play 100% the WHOLE time he is on the floor.

Agreed. As bad as the last eleven games have been, they would have been MUCH worse without Garrett. Probably 4-7 or 3-8 instead of 6-5. Hard to picture him redshirting next year at this point.

Is it a coincidence that MTXE has been a no-show the last couple of weeks?

        ... No really, deuces.

Stutz, with an offseason of hitting the weights and working on his skills, will be a serious weapon for the Shockers! He is showing major improvements in recent weeks in my opinion. I like this kid big time!

Hey I have a question. I've been visiting this board for a few weeks and should have asked this earlier. But what does MTXE stand for? I know it has something to do with your really good teams in the 70's and 80's (I think)

Mental Toughness Xtra Effort . A theme , team rallying cry from coach Smithson senior during the late 70's and 80's
1/16/2010 on the "Screw at the Q" HCGM... " Ive never seen a foul parade like that...If you would of let me know it was going to be a foul parade I would of brought a different team" .... "dont talk to me about fouls....Ive got to go back and look at some tape... I have some thoughts but I need to look at the tape and then I will have something very strong to say"

Yea, it would be nice for Stutz to play more, but did you notice his tired signal to the bench just after a few minutes in the first half? Did you notice he started the 2nd half? Did you notice he picked up his 3rd foul almost immeditatelly?

I would like to see him more too, and I think we probably would have if not for those factors.

Surely someone will comment that Durley had four fouls; they were all in the 2nd half, and most were at the end of the game .

I'm all for Garrett, but fouls and physical conditioning (sometimes in high altitudes) are also factors.

Maybe you could call it a sophomore jinx? Last year, he played more freely, because he didn't understand what he was supposed to do - he just played.

This year he gets the system better, but trying to fit his "play" into it is making him "think" too much. Some are saying lack of basketball IQ, but I don't think that's it at all. He's trying to fit everything in to be a complete team player

Unfortunately - we may have to wait another season for the benefit.

In fairness to all, especially HCGM, you are wrong. I'll chalk it up to the late/early hour.

                            Vance, that scenario is possible.

I continue to get the same feelings as ShockFever. Initially, they were simply killing us by going to their bigs underneath and there were basically no timeouts or adjustments until the second half?

I'm sure a coach as successful and talented as GM has a logical strategy for this. Has he ever explained his reasoning?
