I agree that posting trash on a player's internet page is inappropriate. I'll admit that I was so pissed that I avoided sports message boards from the WSU@UE game until now (and I'll probably avoid them after today until the MVC tourney) because I didn't want to say something inappropriate (and I felt like doing so.) I've never used facebook so I can't speak to the culture there.

I should add that I thought the refs, especially in the first half, were a complete joke.
Some posts are not visible to me. :peaceful:
Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

I have facebook and have had plenty good come from it. It's easy to keep in touch with family I don't get to see much and I have found alot of friends from high school...etc. It does have its purposes.
Sure it has it purposes and in a perfect world there is nothing wrong with it with mature people, until you have somebody using it to harm or cause problem with others. Which I see happen all to often and we have seen just happen in the MVC with WSU and SIU.

I didn't see the facebook page everyone is talking about, but Facebook is a tool that the USER controls. The user has the power to add/ignore/block/delete friends and comments.

If the athlete didn't know the person they were adding as a friend, sorry but that's their own fault. You take a huge risk when you add unknown "fans" or "friends" to view and comment on your page.

Facebook has built in privacy and protection features and it's the user's responsibility to implement them.

If it was indeed a 17 year old, then cut him some slack. He's a kid. He made a mistake and he apologized for it. That's learning. Hopefully the lesson sticks.

And it shows what kind of weak fan you are if you do it (not that anyone here would).

Encouragement is fine but I would err on the side of never writing anything on a players wall.

Don't write anything you wouldn't say in person. C'mon guys.

God dang we here to support the players not put them down.

Just had to get that out there.
              +1

I would just add that some of the players probably read this board. Same applies here IMO.
It's not acceptable at ALL for any Shocker fan to post negative stuff on a player's facebook IMHO. That is just absurd.

However, this is a FAN message board and there is a reason players are told to stay away from sites like this. If they choose to not listen that is on them. While no one should post rumors about players or make personal attacks (against the posting guidelines) I think it is pretty normal for some people to really criticize players and coaches at times. That is part of what makes a FAN message board what it is.

If a player(s) read this message board...then I think it's "Enter at your own risk".
              Word... +1

So some other square of thin paper distributed on a cardboard roll has left critical remarks on a player's facebook?

With that said, hating on a player's home page is ridiculously dumb and stupid.

Constructive criticism is expected. And frankly after the effort put forth last night by some of our players, I would be (and was) pretty pissed too. But that's pretty low to go to a player's facebook.

                            Nice rebuttal, kitty fan.

If you had a facebook page, I'd crash it right now.
