  • Please DO NOT DO THIS EVER

Do not comment on a players Facebook in a negative way. Never, never, ever. I went to Toure's wall to just check it out after he added me and I saw some really negative comments about the Evansville game and about him. That pisses me off. And it shows what kind of weak fan you are if you do it (not that anyone here would).

Encouragement is fine but I would err on the side of never writing anything on a players wall.

Don't write anything you wouldn't say in person. C'mon guys.

God dang we here to support the players not put them down.

Just had to get that out there.

I would just add that some of the players probably read this board. Same applies here IMO.

Hear, hear! That's just stewed in wrong sauce. Turre is a stud and whoever talked smack on his wall can bugger off.

I don't know for sure, but they should have better class then that.

It's not acceptable at ALL for any Shocker fan to post negative stuff on a player's facebook IMHO. That is just absurd.

However, this is a FAN message board and there is a reason players are told to stay away from sites like this. If they choose to not listen that is on them. While no one should post rumors about players or make personal attacks (against the posting guidelines) I think it is pretty normal for some people to really criticize players and coaches at times. That is part of what makes a FAN message board what it is.

If a player(s) read this message board...then I think it's "Enter at your own risk".

It is my personal opinion that Division I basketball athletes should not even have facebook accounts to begin with. More bad than good, as we seem to hear daily now all over the college sports world.

With that said, hating on a player's home page is ridiculously dumb and stupid.

Constructive criticism is expected. And frankly after the effort put forth last night by some of our players, I would be (and was) pretty pissed too. But that's pretty low to go to a player's facebook.

checked on some of the other facebook pages, that guy had evidently put the same thing on JT's page too. He has since deleted them (or the guys deleted it) and apologized. Yeah, our players facebook pages really isn't the place to post criticism. What a d-bag move.

I definitely agree with everything sad about Facebook, including that the student athletes shouldn't have them accessible to fans, if at all. But I disagree about what is posted on this forum. If Coach Marshall and crew come over here, and they do, they need to read it like it is. Very little that's written over here is allowed to be over the top, both sides are frequently taken, and, the pulse of Shocker Basketball is shown loud and clear on this board, including today, when the disappointment boiled over.

Toure' will graduate being one of the best young men to ever put on a Shocker uniform. He has a chance to be All Valley and beyond the next two years.

Yup agreed, the guy that posted that crap can go ahead and turn his Shocker gear in, because we dont need fans like him.

It's never even occured to me to go looking for a college athlete's page on facebook, and I'd never be critical against a player publicly for anything they do on the court. I mean, I've seen some bone-headed moves in college athletics (as well as high-school), but these kids are just a little older than my teen-ager, and if someone said something critical or out-of-bounds about her on a web page...well, I'd send her mother after them.

I doubt anyone from SN would do that. Pretty low though

If I had my way, nobody in my family would have facebook (of course my opinion doesn't count). I have not seen much good come from it, only bad.

I have facebook and have had plenty good come from it. It's easy to keep in touch with family I don't get to see much and I have found alot of friends from high school...etc. It does have its purposes.
