I'm really sorry you failed at math. I'd love to see your bank balance. ("If I withdraw $100 today and $200 tomorrow, I'll have $300 more in my bank account!!")

Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

Has anyone considered the possibility that Hatch might be on an academic scholarship next year, freeing up a MBB scholarship? (I have absolutely zero information about this but Hatch seems like he should have earned an academic scholie IMHO.)
think it works the same as 2 sport athletes where the scholly is charged to the higher profile sport once the player plays in a game. so as long as he didnt play he could be on an academic scholly but once he stepped onto the floor it counts as a MBB scholarship.

could be, and probably am, wrong on this.

The NCAA has made an exception. If an athlete qualifies (in open competition with all other students) for an academic scholarship, that scholarship does not count against the scholarships for the team.

Unfortunately, it takes a lot more than a 3.7 to get an academic scholarship. There are a good number of students with 4.0 gpa's in difficult curricula who do not have academic scholarships.

Getting a full ride academic scholarship for an in-state student for your first two years in college is doable, but after that it is largely departmental scholarships, which usually won't cover all costs for an in-state student.

For an out-of-state student, departmental scholarships are not going to come close to covering tuition.
