Has shock10 ever predicted a shocker win. KC Shox seems to have lost all sense of "reality". Redbirds by nine in Wichita, not likely. Ill State has struggled since our conference opener.
WSU is a different team at home and will take care of ILL ST. My undeated streak for picking WSU games ended at Drake, here's to starting another streak....
WSU 69
ILL ST 60
Marge: The plant called and said that if you don't come in tomorrow, don't bother coming in Monday.
Homer: WOOHOO! Four day weekend.
So far this Valley season seems goofier than usual for some reason that's for sure. But just to echo some of GORL's comments...we're a good team, but far from great, and we struggle on the road. You guys don't struggle at home. There's the difference in this one. Not to mention your boys will be plenty fired up after the DU game so that dosen't bode well for the visitors.
As I said on our board, we played arguably our best overall game of the season when you guys came to Normal back in December, and it will take an effort like that again to keep this one close. The tall task however, is coming up with that effort at Koch. Hopefully we do and we make it a close game, but in the end I think the home team will win. Lets just all hope it's a hardfought, safe game like always.
I am a diehard Illinois State Redbird fan first, and an MVC supporter, diplomat, and ambassador of good will second.
Illinois St is a very dangerous team. I fear them more than I did UNI. They have not played up to expectations, but that does not mean they're not capable of blowing you out.
They're experienced. 3 seniors and 2 juniors in their top 7 players. If Eldridge is not the best player in the league, he is the most dangerous. He is most able to carry a team on his back. Odiakosa is one of the top 2 rebounders in the Valley and has a very high FG%. The other senior, Phillips, is a solid PG and near the top in assists, A/TO ratio and steals (and he can score). Like Eldridge, Rubin has an excellent 3 pt%.
They are not as strong as UNI on D. We must not have big lapses in our scoring. Our D must be present for 40 minutes. The Redbirds can score in bucket fulls if not held in check. Odiakosa and Carmichael are foul prone with Dinma fouling out of three games. Our bigs need to win this battle to keep our rebounding edge.
I believe we will win the game, but the mind-set that each team may have from the first meeting could be bad news.
This is the biggest game of the year for the Shockers. A win and we are back on track, a loss and we loss all momentum we have developed to this point in the season. That said we cannot complain about the current season record as it is much more than one would have expected. The game will be decided in the first ten minutes and getting the crowd involved.
For all those going to the game, be sure to look for a table in the concourse that is supporting a WSU student. Zach Mesch has already defeated Lymphoma and is now battling Luekemia.
His Fraternity brothers and some Spirit Squad members are going to be handing our Shocker Strong bracelets (like Live Strong) in return for a donation to help out Zach and his family.
Athletics is being pretty strict on what they are allowed to do and are only allowing this b/c Zach has been Wu during a lot of the games b/4 he had to go home to Colorado for treatment.
Along with being Wu, Zach is a poli sci major, a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon and won the Fraternity & Sorority Community Servant Award last May.
They were only able to purchase 500 bracelets so be sure to go by the table early on if you want one. There will also hopefully be a lot of Fraternity and Sorority members in attendance to show their support for him.
Thanks!
