also, does anyone know how many overall we've won?
We hosted in 1989, Fogler's last year, but choked in the first round, regulating us to NIT after B2B NCAA berths.
Tourney moved to St. Lou in 1991 and, yes, we've never even made the finals. Since the MVC tourney started in '77, we've won just twice ('85 and '87).
This is the year, though. :wsu_posters:

Not only win it, but also beat the BlowJays by 40 points on the way to winning it.

Too funny. By now we all should have learned that the Shocks are not going to win the tournament. Not going to happen folks and I am the one that said they have a better chance this year than ever before.
"Are not" is probably too strong.....let me ammend that to "not going to happen unless and until our team is so far head and shoulders above the rest of the league so as not to allow any and all outside interference to affect the outcome".
So, basically, until we are Memphis, they'll take our money but that's as far as it goes.

There is so much evidence that a successful WSU is the best thing for this league that for Elgin and Co. to do anything to hinder us would mean we are part of a grossly mis-managed conference that is running short on toes, many of them having been shot off.
The attention for the successes of 2006 and early 2007. Our baseball and volleyball programs. Maybe our basketball program was only a brief flash on the national scene, but it was a very bright flash that elevated the Valley (with Bradley's help) to heights they hadn't got a glimpse of since the 80s.
Perhaps I'm a bit naive in this regard (with apologies to Steve Shogren), but I really don't want to believe this is true, especially since there aren't any currently viable alternatives. (Without football, we're stuck.)
