Maybe the guys need 1 more day away to get righted, ie acclimated. It sounds crazy but having experienced the need to immediately perform when getting off an aircraft I know transitioning the new environment is a consideration when talented/component people fail.
We have our road woes, a bus (roadway) only compounds the problem.
