I've noticed that. Reading other team's message boards it seems like most MVC fan bases hate us. I could accept the fact that maybe WSU fans are just d-bags, but it seems like Bradley and Illinois State like us, so I don't know what's up.
I would argue that Bradley and Illinois State have enough fan support and historical sports success to not have an inferiority complex about our large fan base. Plus, they are too busy hating each other to have much vitriol left for us. :D

I would agree with this plus our non-rented facilities are as good as they get anywhere much less in the mvc. Did you notice the shameless plug :good: for the Gregg Marshall golf tournament and auction before the game started? I could only imagine what the uni fans that were present thought. It would have been great to tell them that the proceeds allowed the Shox to pretty much duplicate the style that the top programs enjoy for travel. Of course maybe alot of those fan bases already know this and thats why they are jealous. Go Shox

I do believe there is a bit of insecurity and jealousy among the smaller fanbases in our conference.. UNI, Drake, Indiana State, etc.

Maybe a few of the UNI fans should take the lead of their coach..
        Deuces Valley.
        ... No really, deuces.

At one point the gentlemen in front of me turned to another older guy and said "Wow, this place is sooo much louder than Creighton." Early on in the game I joked with him about their new ranking and he said "yah, and SI just did a feature on us this week...we're screwed."

I may be the only one who feels this way, but I respect the heck out of Northern Iowa. They seem like a good bunch of dudes that just play tough good basketball and are well coached. I can't find the hatred for them that I feel for most other teams in the Valley. Needless to say I love beating them but they don't bother me like other schools do.

Your thoughts on UNI? Any stories to help me up my dislike for them?
You obviously weren't in CKA back a few years ago ('05 or '06) when Whatshisname from UNI hit a miracle last second 3 to win the game. Immediately following, a man reported to be the kid's father was running around in front of the student section blatantly taunting in a classless manner. IIRC security was reigning in both the fans, and the tool himself. Suffice to say, it was a scene not seen since in CKA.

I'm sure you could find a long thread somewhere in the archives of SN dedicated to THAT guy, THAT night.

If you're talking about the game I think you are, I was there that night and had a perfect view (directly in line from the corner to the basket) of that ball leaving Jacobson's hand and I knew it was good the minute he shot it.

I was not aware of the antics of his father (if that was who it was). That was on that one adult, not the entire fanbase. And I wasn't even offended with the quote from Jacobson himself about "I love quieting a crowd like that." You can't let one person (be it student or adult) be the face of an entire fanbase. That's the reason I wish more in the Valley would not judge WSU by a few posters who think they know everything and get things really riled up.

I thought that was Sloth's (Goonies) kid playing last night. They kept feeding him Baby Ruths during the game.

Coleman was always the player that kept me from respecting UNI. He was flat out dirty. I can't count the number of times he would take cheap shots to other players when the refs weren't looking or were screened off. I haven't had much beef with the rest of the program, but I couldn't stand him. The sad thing is that he had enough game that I feel that I could have really respected him as a player if he hadn't been a cheap-shot artist.

I devote all of my hate to one school in the Valley. I don't want to waste it on any other team.

I devote all of my hate to the fact that we're in the Valley in the first place.

Creighton fans are the douchiest by far at the tournament. All others pale in comparison. The overall sense of entitlement is unbearable. All other fanbases are tied for 2nd-8th least favorite. WSU fans are probably second douchiest compared to Creighton, but they're my douches so I like them.
