Wiki says: "In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room or blog, with the primary intent of provoking other users into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion."
All the posts I've read from MTXE (and I've probably read nearly all of them) haven't seemed inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic to me.

Clearly, MTXE posts to inflame and incite. If that weren't the case and was somehow simply anti-WSU or anti-HCGM, why would he/she expend so much effort?
Like I said before, he/she just has a different opinion about some things when it comes to Shocker basketball. I don't see it as being anti-WSU or anti-HCGM.

Plain fact is when a poster makes comments that don't smack of homerism, and sometimes are a lot more realistic in the big view, many posters get their panties in a bunch, and want to persecute or ostracize the poster that made them.

This is a discussion board people, and everyone is entitled to their own opinion, whether you agree with it or not. I do not feel MTXE is a troll, but is very opinionated. He is not Cold, and I for one, miss Cold being on the board.

I think some just need to relax a little on here, and roll with the punches a little better. I would hate to see this board become a clique of snobs.

I guess I can add 'tool' to the long list of pseudonym's that have been used to describe me on this message board.

I did an internet search for tool and found this urban definition.

Tool: One who lacks the mental capacity to know he is being used.
Ex. That tool doesn't even know she's just using him.

        Yep! I'm definitely a tool.

Just because you don't like what someone is saying on "our" board, doesn't immediately demand that person gets banned. What rules have been broken?

            Folks, you have choices:

            1) Ignore posts by MTXE.

            2) Don't respond to posts by MTXE - i.e. Don't Feed the Troll.

            3) Man up and fight fire with fire. Respond to MTXE with facts and data that cannot be refuted.

I don't want MTXE banned - he's got a bunch of folks around here worked into a lather and it's cheap entertainment. When I get tired of it, I will choose option 1) above.

            --'85.

I am choosing Options 1 and 2 from this day forward. I have grown tired of his posts. The more attention this "guy" gets the more he must salivate and get off. If everyone would take this advice he would eventually leave and go back to Omaha where he must reside.

            Enough said.

To a) avoid polluting the "Tragic News" thread, and b) feed the troll I have to say I have done an about-face on MTXE.

His comments with regard to the death of George Fahnestock are blatant actions to inflame the posters on this group and he should be banned.

The buttons pushing has gone beyond the point of decorum, IMO.

85 - I think the comments were misplaced but I didn't read them as completely inflamatory or disgraceful. I have to admit that when I heard the news, my first thought was who did this versus even considering it was self inflicted. That could be my ignorance based on not knowing him very well, but the timing did appear very odd with no other available facts provided.

When the police drop an investigation, the media reports there is no investigation, and the media does not pursue it, then it's reasonable to assume there really is nothing to investigate and no doubt as to what happened.

At that point, it is generally wise to express sympathy and personal good-byes and leave it at that.

If one is ignorant of the human psyche and the things that can be "different" in different individuals, one should not use that ignorance as an indication that "something else is going on". A failure to recognize value in any but one's self and one's own opinions sometimes leads to quite regrettable words and actions.

"I'm sorry, I didn't know" doesn't cut it in those situations. Those are often the words of the only person in the world who didn't "know". It's unlikely that person will learn from such mistakes, because it conflicts with their value of self and being all-knowing. Then the same mistakes are repeated.

It is pointless to attempt to educate such people. They are uneducable, as they already know everything worth knowing. It's best just to try to avoid them, which eventually leads them to rather lonely and unsatisfying lives, which can deteriorate into depression and their taking of their own lives. Ironic, isn't it.

This is a really strange post. It almost sounds like a public episode of self-discovery that should have remained private. It kind of gives a person a creepy feeling reading it... :(

Maybe there is hope for you. At least you recognize yourself as creepy.

This thread by its very nature qualifies as a troll thread.

                        Stirring up discussion over nothing.

I have seen many long term poster violate the rules of this board via personal attacks on those who views they disagree with. I have seen neither discussion of banning nor threads discussing their banning.

I am not going to read every post in this thread but I’ll weigh in briefly – even though I am confident this point has already been made: This thread is preposterous.
