For all the doom and gloom over the past week, I thought it might be nice to spread a little more good cheer. Like I've been saying lately, WSU does not play in a vacuum. Many other teams are struggling down the stretch. Our opportunity this week has turned out to be pretty significant.
A) Revenge against a team that beat us (EU)
B) Shocks biggest road game of the year (USU)
The newest Bracketology from ESPN thinks we're still just on the outside looking in (Next 4 Out), meaning that the loss to EU didn't cripple us. We've still got a top 50 rpi.
Maybe more important than many would even realize is that Illinois St. is now the proud owner of a top 100 rpi. There are now 5 Valley teams in the top 100, with Bradley on the brink.
Here's to a better week than the last.
And much to my surprise we are still being discussed in the espn Bubble Watch (2/15):
A couple of quotes from the article: "Teams like Cornell, Northern Iowa, Saint Mary's, Siena and Wichita State are a lot more anxious than they were a week ago after losing games in the past few days.
As the NCAA tournament bubble contracts and expands over the last three weeks of the regular season, teams from mid-major conferences have very little margin for error."
...."The Shockers can really help themselves by winning at Utah State in a BracketBusters game Saturday."

I predict wins at USU and Bradley. We are a tough team that has gone to sleep a couple of times. We will not sleep at USU and Bradley.
If we beat USU and Bradley, than I would feel confident in our chances to carry that through to St Lou and winning that as well.
I would love nothing better than to just get hot and carry that momentum as far as it will take us. Not expecting it, but not saying we don't have the talent to do it. GM just needs to find some magic motivation in a bottle or some other form someplace.
"When life hands you lemons, make lemonade." Better have some sugar and water too, or else your lemonade will suck!
I just can't see us winning at USU or Bradley. We have to win it all in St. Louis this year.
which do you all think is more likely, beating USU and Bradley or winning the tourney? -and don't say neither!
I think we can win the tourney in St. Lou. It's neutral courts and we will play better there than in a true road atmosphere. Also, the other teams haven't exactly lit it up on the road. If we've ever had a good chance, this may be the year.
