  • The view from Section 118 Row 8

Thoroughly enjoyed the beat down CU absorbed Saturday. It was actually weird witnessing a DA team offer little, if any resistance.

As mentioned, DA has hung his hat on the PS train and what a wreck.
I find it hard to believe he actually thought PS would grow out of his immaturity.

You also have to wonder how much PS is influenced by the Owens/OchoCinco/Arenas type behavior he sees everyday on SportsCenter. He probably thinks people actually enjoy and admire that crap.

One note, ADES has his critics and supporters.

On the bad, there is the Hannah issue.
On the good, MTXE was handled VERY well.

But what is up with all the security nazi's in the student section?
There are more bouncers patrolling the students than a lockdown @ Rahway.

The first thought it's probably a knee-jerk reaction to the TCU game and if so, an obvious overkill.

Here's a hint - If you want a raucous and lively student section that makes life difficult for the opposing team, don't use hired goons as energy killers.

There's a way to keep the things respectable and also create a not-so-friendly environment for opponents.

It's really not that tough of an obstacle to overcome. 8)
Above all, make the right call.

SR, this topic would make a great vehicle for you to comment on additional games in the future. We could think of it along the lines of The View but with a little more testosterone. :D

      Section 110 row 25

I too have noticed the security nazi's in the student section. I figured that at some point in the season that someone threw something and this is reaction to that. But that is just an assumption. If not then the security is overkill. In fact, if they were blocking my view I would be very upset.

Does anyone know the reason for the security people hanging on the rails of the student section?

Yep. Always been there. I've only ever seen them do three things: take water bottles, tell people to turn camera flashes off, and occasionally tell someone to go back to their seat when a row is overcrowded.

On the flip side though, we need that extra security. As the MOST shoving thread said, if ANY student got that out of line at a Shocker game, The Valley would be pissed beyond measure. Clear the student section? Clear the whole arena? Lynch Gregg? Who knows but it wouldn't be good.

Basically, the university it trying to watch its own butt in a world that hates our guts.
Deep in the heart of couldn't give a crap about college basketball-land and I miss the SHOX.

Most of them are there to line the entrance of the visiting team. They have a "show of force" to head off problems with the visitng team entering or leaving the arena. Things thrown or in your face type confrontations by zealous fans. Just a preventative measure.

I think it is interesting that all of the security is around the student section to keep the students in line, but most of the time it is from other sections that there are issues. Initially there use to be 4 security people around the student section and they keep adding more every year.

At least those players have demonstrated some talent to back up their sh*ttalking and antics.

P'Allen jumped straight to the sh*ttalking and antics and forgot the first step.

I think Don Hall was mispronouncing Pee Alan's name on purpose. P. Allen changed the pronounciation after his freshman year. Don was using the old pronounciation. It's not good to mess up someone's name.

view from my television set(section one, row one)
                      * crowd looked very into it
                      * Creighton LOOKS like they have a losing record
                      * I tried to catch a promo ball, but they kept hitting my screen!

Gee. how many ways can you pronounce "P'Allen?" (Not that anyone has ever seen the name before to know based on experience.) So if you're right, shockball, maybe P'unk decided to take a shot at Hall's drink but didn't know which drink was his, so he just decided to clear the table to make sure?

I'm torn between eagerness for P'unk to leave and quit dirtying up the Valley with his childish idiocy, and hoping he stays at Creighton for as long as they'll have him so he continues to screw up their program.

They have been there for about 5 years.

Sometimes they are ridiculous and act like real nazis. I have seen them take signs from students (even though they didn't contain any abusive or foul language- One of the signs they made come down was one that said BRING BACK SHOCKER FOOTBALL). I have seen them eject students for saying things that the older shocker fans yell all the time.

A few years ago they were even removing students for flashing the W shocker hand sign ( I think they gave up on trying to enforce that one).

But these guys are only doing their jobs and following orders.

I actually think they have gotten better under Sexton than they were under Schaus. They seem to have loosened up a bit.

To get a promo ball you need yourself a HDTV.

Nice observations. But what does your section or row number have to do with anything? Braggadocio perhaps? Could you include your seat number as well? :)
