I really enjoyed the comment about the Shocks being one of the most experienced teams in the Valley, given we have 1 senior (Hannah) and 5 juniors (Ellis, Hatch, Brown, Durley, and Blair). It is indeed a great time to be a Shocker!

Look at this piece in a St. Louis paper: http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/spo...D?OpenDocument

        What a joke!!!
"The Valley was looking to rebound this season and send multiple teams back to the NCAAs, but so far UNI has been one of the few teams to live up to expectations. Conference play in the Valley starts today, with all 10 teams playing, and Northern Iowa stands out from the pack with a 9-1 record in nonconference play against such schools as Boston College (winning by 12), Iowa State (by 3) and Iowa (by 17) and has won eight straight since losing to DePaul in the Virgin Islands."

Gee, I wish WSU could have a record as good as "9-1." ( 11-1 )
        I wish WSU could beat "Iowa (by 17)". (Tue, Nov 24 Iowa at Kansas City, Mo. 6:45 p.m. 74 - 57 (W) )

Does WSU get mentioned at all in the article? Yes; here it is.
        "Good wins
Bradley beat then 20th-ranked Illinois, snapping a 14-game losing streak against top-25 teams. Wichita State beat No. 16 Texas Tech, its first non-conference top-25 win in three seasons."

However, look at these paragraph titles:
        Bears start fast
        What's wrong with Creighton?
        Growing Sycamores
        Comeback Salukis
        Young Aces

I guess WSU doesn't matter. What a joke.

Tonight the class "expereince" goes to the Birds but given the context of the article I'd say the commentary was experience in Valley Conference play. Regardless, my comment was more about the next two to three seasons.

              Go Valley!!

Why are so many scared to be on the radar? I never have and never will understand that thought process. The idea is to be THE team at ALL times. We'll never get where we want to be by flying under the radar. Unless you want mediocrity with the occasional glimpse of greatness.

In Valley play there is no "flying under the radar" it's mano y mano and no opponent should ever be discounted.

If you fly too low under the radar, you crash into the ground. Or you get overlooked on Selection Sunday.

Do we want to be good? If so, we will not "fly under the radar." If you're happy having a bad team so we can "fly under the radar," then you'll be happy if we're crappy. :D

Are you talking about K-State when you say "we"? I don't think you are a WSU fan.

You can't empirically establish that the proverbial radar has anything to do with how a team prepares to play another team. That said, I'd love to read your attempt to do just that. Facts over speculation, please.

Being "under the radar" means we either haven't been successful or whatever success has been achieved isn't being respected. I'll take being "on the radar" any day over being "under the radar".
