Wow Shockernetters. Your response to my earlier post has been awesome! I just got a call from the Sales Director and she wanted me to tell all of you that if you call the hotel number I listed earlier, you MUST use the code "SHOCKER RADIO" in order to get our rates. Asking for "Wichita State" rates will not get you a reservation in our block, and my understanding is that the "Wichita State" block is for cheerleaders and band, and their block is full.

I did get some more rooms added to our block but they are going fast.

The "Downtown" Residence Inn offers a free shuttle and it is reasonably priced for a newer hotel with free breakfast. There is a hotel bar (unusual for a Residence Inn), and a decent gym and pool. "Downtown" is in quotes b/c that is a stretch.

Lots of Shocker and other Valley friends will be there.

All I know is that there should be probably 2,000-2,500 or so more rooms available in downtown STL without Creighton fans being there so finding rooms should be a heck or a lot easier especially for those who like to wait until the last minute.

Just booked my Westin room at WSU group rate of $199/night. 3 rooms left. Call Jamie at 314/621-2000.

Been doing this for some time now. I like driving up early on Saturday and I usually call the hotel of one of the losing teams from Friday and stay there fairly cheap. Last year stayed at Union Station (Mo State) and it is one nice hotel.

We stayed at the Crowne Plaza when we went to the SLU game earlier this year. Not a bad location, a couple restaurants and a pub within walking distance. I'd stay there again.

We stayed at the Westin once or twice (got the WSU rate) I think we paid like $190/night with taxes and everything. It is nice to be in the team hotel -but IMO not worth the extra $$$ There are so many other places you can stay for a lot less and get breakfast included. The restaurant at the Westin is $$$$$ for every meal. We'll stick with the Pear Tree Inn - It is closer to the arena, nice clean rooms, free breakfast and a much friendlier staff than at the Westin.

I will be giving this a shot for the first time this year. Its reviews are not great, but frankly, I spend about 45 waking minutes per day in my hotel room during the tournament and am fine with a so-so place as long as I get a good night's sleep. I snagged a room there for $52/nt through Priceline back in September.

If it sucks, I will revert back to the Missouri Athletic Club next year.

Unless we are in a new conference... :smile-new:

I think you'll be fine. It seems like I stayed there a couple years ago when I went to STL for a Cardinals game. It's a good spot. You certainly won't confuse it for the Westin, but plenty adequate.

I know it puts us away from downtown, but Mrs. ShockBand and I will be staying out in the Brentwood area and taking the MetroLink to and from games.
