I have had good experiences at the Missouri Athletic Club for under $100. It is convenient if you are young, do not mind walking, and will be drinking with friends- Scottrade is about 15 minutes on foot (a little under a mile) and Laclede's Landing is about a 10 minute walk, maybe slightly less.

Does Downton St. Louis have as much drama as Downton Abbey?
The mountains are calling, and I must go.

Just a thought, will Loyola bring 4k fans this year? If not, it should make acquiring tickets/hotel rooms much easier. This assumes 6k Shocker fans don't decide to show up. :excitement:

Just made a reservation tonight at the Pear Tree...even Priceline had them as $124. I went to the Drury web site and with AAA got $118. Taxes make a two night stay about $275. Checked the Westin...Rate was $342 per night.

              Pear Tree Inn

We booked a room through AAA just the other night. We've stayed there the last 2 years - great location - We've always walked to the Arena (about 5 min. walk). Really like the place - staff is very friendly - breakfast is great - happy hour in the evening - with free drinks.

The official hotel of ShockerRadio is the Crowne Plaza in downtown St. Louis. Located at 200 N. Fourth Street, Shocker fans get discounted rates of $109/night for a standard room and $139 for 1 bedroom suites (couch is a pull out). Located across from a train stop, it's an easy commute to the arena and right in the middle of all of the downtown action. Limited availability. Call 314-621-8200 and ask reservations for the "shockerradio rate".

This really annoys me. That's little more than price gouging and while I am a free market guy, the Valley is doing NOTHING for us with this STL thing. We should be shopping our wares elsewhere.

Are we contractually obligated to play in the MoVal tournament? Wouldn't mind eliminating 3 RPI/SOS bombs.

Isn't this is where WSU wants to stay? The Westin is easily double the rest of the "MVC Tournament" hotels. With CU gone, maybe WSU should secure a second "Shocker Hotel" of more reasonable price.

That is why I checked that rate. At the time I was going with a friend and we would have probably paid a premium for the experience of staying at the team hotel, but that is just ridiculous. I did just justify an increased expense in food and beverage however.:applause:

Yes, the Pear Tree is fine. It is in the average department. The walk is not bad. The Pear Tree is owned and operated by Drury Inn.

There used to be a bar in the hotel. The bar offered shuttle service to Scott Trade. I do not know, if the service is still available.

Our group usually stays in the Drury Inn near Union Station. It's pretty nice, free popcorn 24/7 and a free buffet from like 5-7 every night!
