    Good stuff ...

“The rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying. But it was also the tragic consequence of the informational malnourishment so badly afflicting the nation. ... Americans gorge themselves daily on empty informational calories, indulging their sugar fixes of self-affirming half-truths and even outright lies.'

Nice article. Bryce sounds like a walk on who wants to be in the regular rotation as a senior; I love that kind of drive in a kid paying his own way. I hope he doesn't get too caught up in basketball and let his academics slip; good high school grades don't automatically lead to good university grades. This is one reason I love the volleyball team; they are good at athletics and good at academics. (Now if only the volleyball players had tough majors; the world already has enough communications majors. :D )

Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

I guess what brought grades to mind with respect to walk ons is Mason Felter. Did he improve his grades enough to play in the spring?

Bryce will not have any trouble with grades. I got to meet his dad earlier this fall, and dad has laid a good disciplinary foundation and instilled a good work ethic both on and off the court. Between Bryce's dad and HCGM I have no doubt that the academic side will stay intact and a good balance between books and basketball will be maintained.

No, he is a future doctor. I think his major is pre-med.

That can't be. Everyone (at least all of the private schools in the mvc) knows that anyone that goes to a "Public" school will never amount to anything because they just "ain't as smart as us in private schools. " (Please read the last part in your best hillbilly twang) ;-)

                Mayes

Go Shockers says Brice Mayes is a pre-med major. Further, academically, he was OHS Valedictorian, a Kansas Honor Scholar, a Kansas Governor’s Scholar and a Kansas Board of Regents Scholar and carried a 3.98 GPA.

I have spent a little time with him. He seems like a great kid with a solid head on his shoulders.

Do walkons graduations count towards the team's graduation rate?

Good question concerning graduation; I don't know the answer.

I hope, as a senior, Bryce becomes an outside threat, like Ogirri, with some reasonable defense.

Don't count on it. He simply doesn't have the foot speed to do so

I might be mistaken, but I think he was a sprinter for Oxford's track team

He could be a Matt Clark, but without expending a scholarship.

Matt would be a walk-on on this team.
