Not to be down on Bryce, but if he's in the 8-man or 9-man rotation by the time he's a senior, then I think our team is down.

Hatch wasn't fast enough to contribute to the team either, according to some. Steve Kerr for Arizona was the slowest, least athletic PG Lute had at UA. He led them to a final four and played in the NBA for 10+ years. At one time having the highest 3 pt shooting average in the NBA.

Just recehecked- He still has the record for 3 point shooting average.

Don't count this kid out. He will get quality minutes if he sticks it out. There have been local kids that have made a difference in the Shocker program. I look forward to watching him for the next four years.

          (1) The kid appears to be aware of his weaknesses; (2) he apparently has a very good work ethic/attitude; and (3) he has several years to improve. I have never seen him play but based upon what I read – I wouldn’t count him out.

If he breaks into the rotation under CGM – he will have earned that opportunity. Don’t pass judgment now.

I'm with Maggie on this. If he is part of the rotation, he will have improved to the point where it is warranted. Not the other way around.

I will be surprised, if Bryce is at WSU for more than 3 years. I imagine his major is biology, chemistry or a similar coursework.

After pre-med, he has about eight more years in front of him, before he becomes a fully licensed physican.

His chosen curriculum requires considerable hours for class and study. It may crowd out basketball.

I know several people that played sports at the D-I level prior to going to medical school. It generally took them 5 years to complete their degree. I certainly wouldn't hold it against him if he left the court to focus on academics or changed his major. It is certainly challenging to accomplish what he is attempting.

I believe Wise went on to chiropractor school or something along those lines. Dental school, optometry, chiropractor, etc. are frankly nowhere near as tough as getting into a traditional med school. The former choices are much closer to getting into a law school than a med school in terms of difficulty. Not to say it's not an impressive accomplishment though.

Over 70% of freshman pre-med students change their mind. If Bryce sticks with this pursuit and succeeds while playing college ball, it will reflect maturity far beyond his years and command great respect.

We were all pre-med im my freshman biology class. There was about 60 of us. By the time I was a senior 5 of us applied and 4 got in. One went on to get his PhD. Two or three others went to Dental/Pharm school.

No doubt, it's a long tough road to med school. IIRC, over 2200 students were interviewed for 2009 KU Medical School... only 170 were selected and around 20-30 received admission from either the Rural Scholarship Program or Post Bacalarutte Program leaving approximately 150 at large selections. I believe WSU's PA school has similar interview/selection percentages. My hats off to any 4-year D-1 athlete who makes it to and through medical school.
