  • WSU @ ISU-red

The next Shocker game is on December 29 at Illinois State. Osiris Eldridge seems to play well against WSU. If we play like we did against NDSU, it will be a long game.
    Keys to the game.
    1. Murry needs to find his shot.
    2. Blair, Stutz, etc. need to make the bunnies.
    3. Second half defense needs to improve a lot.
    4. Dumb turnovers need to end. (Yes, Demetric Williams, I'm talking to you - and others.)

Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

I think the Shocker coaches will use this game as an example and as motivation for the Illinois State game. I'm looking forward to the ISU game.

I consider IlSU a definite contender in the Valley. Getting them on the road early in the season might not be the best situation, but I think the Shox will be ready.

A loss would certainly not be a big negative, and woul likely provide some motivation and experience in future road games. A W would be BIG.

I think this team pulls it out. Gonna be tough though. The guards have GOT to shoot better from deep then they have been. If they do that we win. But if the guards aren't firing on all cylinders then the defense will just collapse on Durley, Blair and Stutz making it tough to get any easy shots.

I don't think Illinois St is ready for our length/athleticism and will turn it over quite a bit. We have got to capitalize off of those turnovers.

If Durley, Stutz and Blair handle the double teams down low without turning the ball over we will be fine.
Sometimes we just don't kick the ball back out quick enough to beat the double team.

Last year the birds hit 9 treys and out rebounded us by 9 at their place. If we reverse those numbers we win.

I think the only thing keeping us from running them out of the gym is their ability to hit the trey. If they don't, they have no chance to beat us.

HCGM with another extended period to prepare will have this team ready to step it up and make a statement out of the block.

HCGM is on a mission this year. It's to take the Valley belt, bend over every team and spank them with it.

This will be the most adversity we have faced and it might be the best team we have played to date as well. Go Shox.

I hope HCGM has the team defend the perimeter closely in the game.

I agree, our guards need to shoot better for us to win. Can't always rely on Hannah to bail us out. Kyles doesn't take enough shots, Murry needs more accuracy, Williams can hit some shots, and Hatch is pretty good at 3's. We need more than 1 guard firing on 8 cyclinders to win this game.

Defense will be the key in this game though, and how well we defend against the 3.

This is a big game. We win this then I think we lay early claim to Valley contender. We lose, we're looking more like the upper middle team we thought we'd be.

Will be a tough win, as is any road game against quality opposition.

If we play good defense, we win. Offense is not a problem this year.

Hey Shox fans. Well, it's that time again for our squads to fight it out. This is gonna be a tough game for both teams I think. I said many times long before the season started that you guys would be very dangerous and so far you're proving me right. We're gonna have to have a full team effort when you guys come to Normal next week. After collapsing in the 2nd half vs. Niagara, and then not showing up at all @ Ohio, we put together our best game of the season @ Utah. Then we destroyed Grambling last night as we should have. Now comes you guys. Last time we had a week between games, we laid an egg. We certainly can't do that against you or you'll run us out of our own arena.

I look for a 5-7 point game (or less) either way. You're definately our toughest opponent to date so it'll be interesting to see how prepared our guys are. This is also the first time in several years (5 or more I wanna say) that we've opened up conference play at home. Not sure what kind of crowd to expect, but hopefully it's decent. Just wish we hosted you guys when our students weren't on break. No matter what, let's hope for a safe, enjoyable game. I think we all can agree it's gonna be a tough one as ISU/WSU games almost always are. I'm sure I'll comment more as the game gets closer.

Until then, hope everyone in Shox Nation has a good Xmas.

Not saying they won't hit 3's against us, but they are the worst 3pt shooting team in the Valley
