Out of curiosity how many free tickets are alloted to students at KSU? I know WSU is 1100, but rarely all are given out. They then try to sell them to the general public, not sure if they still count all of the tickets towards attendence though, but technically they are "sold" tickets.

KSU football/basketball student tickets aren't free like at WSU. $245 for GA and $330 for ICAT. It's a combo ticket for both sports though they have started to sell student football only tickets now for $150. Students also pay an activity fee which is their part of the construction costs of Bramlage. There are 6-7000 student seats and they are all sold. Again, there are no free student tickets at the Bram of the Bill.

General public season tickets are $320 or $390 and donations are required for the better seats and for all chairback

Of course having a predominantly resident and traditional student population base makes KSU function a little differently than WSU. Obviously the season FB/BB student tix sell at prices BCSCat lists, more power to them. If they weren't, I guarantee you the price would drop or they would be free.

Base student population demographic comparisons are very apple vs. orange in this case.

The Bram is nearly sold out for the year at 12,560. There were around 200 single game and a few season tickets left that go on sale Thursday. Hard to compare to WSU as so many of us drive a long ways to get to games so there aren't always butts in seats (though the seats are sold) especially in the non-con. We have only missed the Xavier game because of the snow but it's tough getting home at midnight after the weeknight games. I would never want to switch Alma Maters but it must be nice to have a 20 minute drive home after a game. :D

There are about 20 people I can think of off the top of my head that travel an hour if not two hours to WSU games loser.

Yes we know that 90% of the KSU fanbase is in the rural agriculture population but please spare me with your ignorant bs.

I have to think 90% of the fans at WSU (except your "friends") are from the Wichita area but the percentage of KSU fans from Salina, Wichita, Topeka and KC at any game is high.

Even WSU's down years had weak attendances you say? I point to our last two seasons, which saw us finish at 9th and 7th in the Valley respectively, and look at our attendance numbers. You lose.. AGAIN.

For these "free tickets," WSU students pay over $1,000,000 per year in student fees per an agreement between the SGA and WSU (or WSU Athletics.) If you want something "free" from me and are willing to pay this kind of money, I'm game. :D

-Student tickets at WSU men's basketball games are not free- just expensed to the student body in a different format.

-Virtually all season tickets (read: vast majority of our ~10K arena) have mandatory "donation" levels, just like K-State.

I travel about 2 and 1/2 hours to Shocker home games. I love it when we play KU in Lawrence in baseball because then I only have a 20 minute drive.

Live just off 13th and Woodlawn, so once I get out on 17th Street (which sometimes takes anywhere from 10 to 20 minutes), I'm usually home in 5 to 7 minutes.

I used to live in College Hill; that was a 10 minute drive in bad traffic.

Now I live around 2.5 hours away, and TT will be my first home game. It's not necessarily the drive that's kept me from coming, it's that I've been so damn busy.
