    Sub's right.

The MVC's conference SOS is ranked 23rd out of 31 conferences.

Take a look at these SOS numbers for some MVC schools (note: 348 is dead last):
    Illinois St: 340
    WSU: 332
    Evansville: 322
    SIU: 300

That's premium information that I put on the website!!!!! Thanks for stealing and passing information off as your own. I'm gonna have to ask you to pay $10.
    Now that WAS necessary
Infinity Art Glass - Fantastic local artist and Shocker fan
    RIP Guy Always A Shocker
Carpenter Place - A blessing to many young girls/women
ICT S.O.S - Great local cause fighting against human trafficking
Wartick Insurance Agency - Saved me money with more coverage.
Save Shocker Sports - A rallying cry

And then you have teams with decent SOS's like sCUm but have done absolutely NOTHING with them besides embarrass our conference on national tv.

      0-3 in Orlando? Seriously?
      Was that really necessary?
Actually Sub, I thought about doing the same. DoubleJay's point would have been made without the "Take a look at " section of his post. I took it as a dig against us, SIU, and Ill St. All here already know our concern for the weak schedule, some of which is not our doing and some is.

        That wasn't my intent.

I was just attempting to show why the Valley isn't getting more love nationally, which is the question that the OP posed. Instead of just making a comment, I thought I'd back it with facts.

Double J - you know this is a sports message board. What is this "back it with facts" crap. You KNOW better. j/k

It did kinda sound like a dig and unfortunately I think most posters here are a "little" sensitive about our SOS. Next year's SOS won't be a problem with the Maui Invitational, but this year has been a real letdown. Now, I just hope we can back up our claims of being much, much improved by getting wins against TCU and a ranked opponent in Texas Tech.

No worries DJA. Even though all of us Shocker fans have an extreme dislike for Creighton I know that you are one of the good ones.

              As necessary as ever.

Why should the teams that are losing be protected from criticism?
              Deuces Valley.
              ... No really, deuces.

I'm not defending our SOS. It's bad. It will pick up in a couple of weeks. I just don't need elite sCUm fans pointing out WSU's flaws while sCUm hasn't exactly been helping our conference either.

Next year will be better. Maui will give us at least 2 good games, 3 if we don't play the host. CBE this year only gave us one. In addition we should finally get the return game on LSU. I don't know how Tulsa will be next year, but they probably will equal TCU or Texas Tech on this year's schedule.

Off to a pretty good start but I still don't like the desire for 4 buy games.

Also hoping for another good tournament in 2011. Without them it would be pretty hard putting together a good schedule.

Although the Valley is lacking in marquee wins, the league has been solid in non-con play.
I believe the Valley is 8-6 against BCS opponents. Anytime we can go over .500 against the BCS teams we are having a good season as a conference. :wsu_posters:

Agreed. Just not national media worthy before Christmas. The tough thing will be in March and Ill St, or MSU, or whomever is 26-6 and the committee will say they didn't beat anyone. NIT

It's up to each individual team in the Valley this year.

We were looking for an "up" year for the Valley this year and that isn't happening. We were expecting great OOC results from some of the traditional front-runners and some of the "name" teams.

It's not happening. I expect the traditional higher-level Valley teams will get their games figured out in time for Valley play. That will make the Valley look even worse as the teams with bad OOC records beat up on teams in the league.

There ain't gonna be no rising tide that carries all the Valley teams higher. The tide is going out. If a team wants to go dancing, they're going to have to dominate the regular season or win the auto.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

UNI is set for a possible at-large if they need it by doing well in the regular season Valley race. MSU has a chance if they close out the non conference schedule with wins. Illinois State and Wichita State also, but only if they distance themselves from the rest of the MVC field and then lose the semi-final or final tournament game.

I certainly don't see more than two getting to the dance.

Do you really think so? They have no games against Top 25, they 0-1 versus Top 50, 1-0 versus Top 100. They are projected to have only 1 more game against Top 50 competition.

It seem for them to really have an at-large big they really need to have at least 2 more Valley teams emerge with high RPI so they can help their case:

I just don't think the committee looking at:

                              Top 25 0-0
                              Top 50 2-0

is going to impress them to give them a at-large. This is where CU really has screwed the MVC and UNI over specifically. They had a decent non-conference schedule but totally dropped the ball.

This is where UNI really need the bottom half of the MVC to just suck and no upsets during conference play.

Yes I really think so. And yes, they can't afford a lot of upsets in conference play.
