The computer rankings, even RPI, are starting to get enough data to have some inertia, and at least some degree of meaning.

Ratings Percentage Index - WSU is 175, MVC is 9th.

Bradley's home loss to WCar dropped the league one spot from 8th. Three home blowout wins dropped WSU's ranking from 97 to 175. If we win at UMKC (285) it will be interesting to see if it has a net positive effect.

Pomeroy Ratings - This formula likes WSU and it's defense with a Valley-leading rank of 50. MVC sits in 11th.

Sagarin Ratings - WSU is at 75 and MVC is 10th.

Another interesting site is RPIForecast.com - It uses the Sagarin PREDICTOR to guess future game results and the resulting RPI. Right now, WSU is projected to go into the MVC tournament with an RPI rank of 64 and a 21-8 record.

TT might still go on to have a pretty decent year if they take a loss, but IMHO TCU could use the win more.

Three home blowout wins dropped WSU's ranking from 97 to 175.

Had we not blown them out, or worse yet, lost to one of them, the damage would have been much worse. The drop was due to who we played, not the result.

TT might still go on to have a pretty decent year if they take a loss, but IMHO TCU could use the win more.

It doesn't make a differance considering we play both teams. I do think if we want a chance at being ranked we need to root for TT to beat TCU that way they come into CKA ranked. It would be nice to be 10-1 with a win over a ranked team.

I know many here do not think our RPI is important. Nevertheless, I believe it could make a difference if we were a bubble team, if we were invited to post-season as to how we'd be seeded, and/or as entertainment value to the fans.

WSU: 174 RPI, 321 SOS, played Pitt 23 RPI, TX Southern 151, Iowa 207, Clev St 226, FDU 283, Alcorn 313, and Upstate 325.

Missouri St: 7 RPI, 34 SOS, played Tulsa 14 RPI, E. Mich 58, Auburn 95, UA Little Rock 136, Air Force 184, Citadel 211, and UM Eastern Shore 232.

Tulsa: 14 RPI, 30 SOS, played Mo St 7 RPI, Ok St 26, UA Little Rock 136, S Alabama 138, Ohio 172, and Fl Intn 269.

Loyola (Chicago): 38 RPI, 57 SOS, played K St 9 RPI, UW GB 128, W Mich 134, Canisius 156, Holy Cross 237, and UW Milwaukee 241.

No doubt that who you schedule, when you schedule them, how they schedule, and how they play all comes into this. No one thought Mo St would be where they are. However, they would have had no chance to be there had they had our schedule to this point.

None of the schedules above are full of BCS teams, but what most of them do not have is a glut of bottom feeders.

I believe we could have been 6-1 with any of the above schedules. If we only went 5-2, we would have still been better off. Higher RPI, better entertainment for the fans, and a more seasoned team.

We do have some key games coming up which could help our cause greatly and need to take advantage of them. I know our schedule is much better coming up and the other teams I listed may not. It will interesting to see where everyone stands in a couple of weeks.

But all the wins against the non-con pud teams will resurface during the post-season tournament selection process......unfortunately. It could mean the difference between which tourney we get invited to....

Doesn't matter as far as RPI. Since we play both of them it is a wash as far as RPI calculations.

Perception wise it would be better if TT beats TCU so that they come to Koch undefeated and ranked.

They have us losing at home to Texas Tech, and by 3 or less points in 3 league road games. The worse game they have us losing by is a 10 point lost at Missouri State.

After we beat Texas Tech here, I think some of their predictions will start to move in our direction.

This is all fun and such, but I really don't give two hoots about their predictions. I would just as soon stuff it in their faces if they didn't pick us and we won.

What I really care about is how well we play each game as it comes up, winning that game, and being properly noted by such sites for our efforts.

Gotta root for Tech over TCU. We need a win over a ranked team big time.

The RPI numbers, I feel, are still a bit inaccurate. But with that, I really wanna see the buy-out games drop to 2 or less per season. 4 250+ RPI teams are WAY too much. I really don't wanna see a SWAC opponent to ever set foot in this arena again.

This is my only qualm with HCGM at this time. We aren't Winthrop. We actually have the potential for at-large bids. We don't need win-padding. We need solid schedules and need to go out and test ourselves ------ ESPECIALLY NEXT YEAR with a likely Top 3 preseason team in the Valley.
