Nebraska beat USC-Upstate 76-49 which is almost identical to the Shocks victory over USC-Upstate.

Nebraska defeated UMKC 70-48 and TCU 90-77. I'd take results similar to that in our upcoming games with UMKC and TCU.

72-I'm just kiddin you. I love the Shockers and all shocker fans that's why I get so militant on this board when someone overlooks us or our conference. And that happens all too often.

While it is early in the season in their Conference RPI ratings Real Time has the PAC-10 ranked 8th (.5321)

The MVC is close behind at 9th (.5310) and the Mountain West is currently 10th (.5305). So far the MVC and MWC are splitting there series.

Either conference could easily pass the PAC-10 with a strong finish to the non-conference schedule.

Winning the head-to-head games with the MWC would help. The Creighton win over Nebraska was a good win in that CU's RPI went from 277 to 220 in one game. Shocker wins over TCU and Texas Tech should significantly help our RPI (currently around 175).

Once you get into conference play the conference RPI is not going to change much. It would be nice ahead of the PAC-10 in the next couple of weeks.

We are better than last season but not as good as some believe...

Better than last year would be top 4...I think that is about where most of us feel this team will finish.....

Wow! Confidence in post defense. That's unusual. I don't think that happened at this stage of Miller's Sr. year.

You certainly couldn't have predicted that a year ago. Durley wasn't known for his ability to stop anything and the alternative was Stutz.

We've come a long way in our expectations, but I think it's deserved.

We've played against smaller and quicker post players with no problems. We've played against similarly sized and similarly quick post players with no problems. Schneiders was surprisingly mobile for his size, so we've played against taller and reasonably mobile post players with no problems.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

That game was a bit different in a couple of ways.

                  1. It was the first game of the season - that game always seems to create screwy results as your trying to merge new people into defense and offense.

                  2. The game between Upstate and NE was quite a bit closer then the score would indicate. USC upstate even had the lead 15 minutes in and was down at the half by single digits. They just completely folded in the 2nd half (6 minutes without a point).

Creighton was / is at the bottom of the league. Nebraska had one loss. Any loss to an MVC team is a bad loss since the big 12 is supposed to be one of the best conferences in the country.

Obviously there was some home cooking at this game. The only way Creighton gets that kind of advantage at the free throw line is when we go there. Expect to have a lot of fouls called against you....a lot!

It's always tough to win at Creighton...and Bradley, and SIU. I imagine it will also be tough to win at Ill. St and UNI this year as well...MSU, to me, the Bears are our natural (geographic and population similarity) rival and hopefully we can see that rekindled over the next 5 years with a string of top 3 finishes by both schools.
