  • My brother thinks it's around 70k. I'm sure it's around 60-70 at the minimum anymore. I wonder what we paid UAB. Surely it was more than we pay the ASUs of the world

      • I thought Mark Potter said we paid Newman $6,000. Rockhurst came here because of a friendship between Hawk Coach Bill O'Connor and the WSU staff. They were paid $10,000.

After thinking about it (and reading the comments) I know the buy in for a D-1 school is more. We collected $80,000 plus expenses when we went to Syracuse, but we were coming off a sweet 16. ASU is a collection of YMCA players.

          • This is a little dated but a good read on how tough things are for Alcorn State on the road:

The Division I blue bloods have the luxury of the chartered planes and big-time shoe deals. But for Alcorn State, just one of a number of historically black colleges and universities, Division I life is no easy road, writes Dana O'Neil.

            Sounds like a tough go.

I was at the KU game tonight and it was actually a much better game than I expected or would have thought given the score. I'll give Alcorn State one thing. They definitely did not ever give up. They were scrapping right down to the last play. They actually stole it twice in the last 45 seconds or so.

                    • If we paid less, then KU probably booked their game before us and Alcorn St decided to pick up an extra $60k on the trip.
