Play of the game for me was Murry's drive to the bucket where he faked the pass and then threw it down with one hand. Havent seen him do that too often!!!

Very nice! 20 minute drive, you know I'll be there!
It was a nice rivalry for years. I think the series is close, we may be ahead by 1 game.

Manigault had a sick flush on an alley-oop. I think Williams had the assist.

Considering we haven't seen a lot of dunks in recent history, tonight was a dunk-fest.

Stutz got left alone under the basket once and Hannah found him. Stutz did not go up soft.

I think it'll be great having Tulsa on the schedule again. I hope they put this game in new arena in both cities.

Either way, tickets will be easy to come by in Tulsa. The Reynolds Center at TU is nice, seats 8,355, and very rarely sells out. Last WSU/TU game there was like half and half fan base.
It would be good to have it on a Saturday here in Tulsa and rename either arena "Koch South".

yeah, I think everyone knew it/hoping. It was nice to hear from somebody in the program to say it though. I hope it's downtown too. It will sure beat playing Evansville or New Hampshire Central Tech or somebody like that downtown.

Cool about Tulsa. Hopefully they'll stay among the top of the C-USA.

Hard to get anything from this game really since Alcorn St was about as bad as it gets LOL. But, nice winning by that much and the team did win both halves.

The game looked like our first experience with MVC refs. It was called tighter than any other game this season. It wasn't called as tight down low in the second half because Alcorn was crashing the basket on goth ends. There was too much contact to call.

First half was as bad as anyone could have made it sound. I was going to make a post like this: "If we play like this against (fill in the blank) we get blown out by (fill in the blank)."

The traveling calls were real. Refs weren't allowing any shuffling of the feet and were watching for it. Shox D was causing a lot of footing problems for Alcorn. Their perimeter players were quick and fast, but they used that speed to get into trouble and then they travelled when they tried to recover.

Manigault and Williams needed their minutes. I agree with what Marshall said in post-game - "They were OK".

Maybe Kyles can build off of this game. He had a pretty solid game.

This is 3 good games in a row for Stutz. I thought his game was better than the stats show. He is altering shots close to the bucket and he's altering perimeter players driving to the bucket. It looks like he's starting to figure out that he's more effective if he jumps. He's never had to jump to play the game, so it takds a bit to figure that out and control it.
I'll add this about Stutz....he is anticipating a LOT better in the past few games and getting better position offensively and defensively. These smaller and quick teams used to cause him alot of problems regardless of how good they were. He's coming along. He'll still have his bad games, but if he can give this kind of effort every game he'll be ok.

And for anyone who has ever given Stutz grief about soft hands better be doing the same to Durley. It was just one game in which he couldn't hold onto the ball at times...but still. Time for him to step up or Stutz may take the starting spot if this continues.

                      Hmm...
I wonder why KM, DW and GS didn't get more minutes in a game like this.

Dunno if any of you remember Larry Smith, but he was a rebounder deluxe in the NBA, in the mold of Dennis Rodman or Paul Silas, was one of the hardest working players ever to play in the league. He has a ways to go with this team, but I wish him lotsa luck.

I hope we adjust our schedule a tad next year. One or two cupcakes is fine. 5 of them at one time makes for an upset stomach.
I agree with you, but for some reason I'm getting the vibe that when Marshall was putting this schedule together he was building around the CBE games, TCU and TTU and wanted some feel-good games for a still fairly young team.

At this point, we're seeing improvement in almost every individual player and good teamwork on both ends of the court. Now that things have gelled with this team, it's like, oh-oh, now we go into the coaching bag 'o tricks and come out with "we're not playing the opponent, we're not playing the scoreboard, we're going against the game of basketball and trying to get better."

The good thing is, these are very good games to get much needed minutes for Manigault and Williams, and to get Stutz some quality, productive minutes with the lights on and the crowd in the stands. I don't think Stutz gets the minutes if we play a tougher schedule, and it seems to have worked for him. He looks like a different player - i.e. something has clicked for him.

I'm not sure if these games help the front line players much, but UMKC, TTU, and TCU will take care of that, IMO.

One more thing about scheduling ...

All these cupcake games are buy-ins, Marshall has said that he likes 3-4 buy-ins on the schedule. The question is, how far up the list of D1 bottom-feeders can you go and still get the buy-ins? RPI 200? RPI 150?

I agree. But as this team matures I would like to see a tougher non-conference schedule, if possible.

Speaking of UGLY, those Alcorn State Uni's were about as ugly as I've ever seen--especially the back side. Someone got stripe happy and just randomly put stripes in places--or so it would seem.

Poor guys probably have no budget for newer, better looking uniforms.

I also noticed we don't have new home uniforms that match the road uniforms. Too bad--they'd look slick I would think.
